Concept of guild ranking system[edit]

I would like to suggest a guilds ranking system, where guilds would get points for their members completing guild related events (or winning in pvp etc.). And by these points guilds would be ranked (first counting number of times guild was nominated for guild of the year, then for the week and then for how much total points it has got). And lets say after one week guild with most points would be awarded with one time achievement of "guild of the week" (and particular week would be written for example: Guild "Anet" have been awarded as guild of the week (2011.10.10-2011.10.16). The winner guild could be granted access to some special event or some other stuff or get some coold skins for equipment or something else. And there also could be awards of "guild of the year". Winner guild would be chosen as the one which have been awarded as the guild of the week most times (if there would be few guilds with the same highest score of the week winners then winner would be guild with more total points count for the whole year). Guild of the year of course would get even bigger rewards and one time achievement of the year (I say one time, because no one else would get that achievement at that particular time anymore).

How points would be calculated for this system[edit]

So any guild could get 7 guild points per week max. At a given week their would be 7 events/missions/quests that should be completed. These events could be completed any time within that week (It can be completed one event per day or all events in on day), but it can be done only once (can't repeat). Also these events should be instanced to avoid intervention of other players. The point is for guild to complete any given event as best as possible. For example: there could be chosen one dungeon (it could be already implemented dungeons) that it should be completed as fast as possible (or to avoid damage of monsters/bosses of that dungeon as much as possible, or in some other way). And some guild members group that completes that event the fastest (not first to complete, but to complete from start to the end at the best time, for example in 10 minutes) of all participated guilds will get one "guild point". So when that week passes, results are calculated and every guild would get as much points as it completed these events better than the rest of the guilds (for example: guild nr1. completed 3 events better than the rest, so it gets 3 points, guild nr2. completed 2 events (better than the rest) and guild nr3. completed 2 other events better than the rest. So the winner would be guild nr1. and it would get achievement "guild of the week". If their would be more than one guild with same highest score of completing events the best, then the winner could be determined by the team which wins in pvp . Lets say guild nr1. has 3 points and guild nr2. has 3 points and guild nr3. has 1 point, so nr1. and nr2. will pick their best pvp group of 5 players and will join pvp match which could be randomly generated (random map). So the winner would of course be the winner of the week . Also I think that match could be completed the next week, because results of how many points which guild gets would be seen in the end of week (I mean that week, when events are held). And if these teams wouldnt fight, than the winner would be guild nr3. with one point All points would be restarted at the start of another week of course (but total number of points would be counted for the reason mentioned above).

Concerns[edit]

I think such system would increase competition and meaning of guilds. But I fear that such system wouldn't be so great at current guild system where players can join unlimited number of guilds, because if guild member completes something for that guild it also completes that for another guild. Maybe to fix this, there could be some system which should ask you to choose what is your "active" guild at the moment. What I want to tell, is that when you choose one particular guild as "active", then everything you complete for guild, will count for "active" guild only.
