There are various problems with the Codex Arena. First of all thanks to the live team for getting this out there. The fact that it was pushed out in a seemingly quick manner makes it somewhat lacking and while it sucks a bit, it allows the players to tell you what is wrong.

An obvious issue is that players don't have access to an entire skill list. There's suggestions on that already. However, implementing a skill list, while necessary, will result in few viable builds. In fact it will probably result in build wars and the players who are better at analyzing will have significant advantages over those who aren't. With such a limited set of skills its realatively simple to figure out what would be useless and what would dominate. Just a consequence to recognize.

Another issue is bad match ups. For example today (10-23-09) there is only 1 hex removal skill and it's Divert Hexes. Additionally, Mirror of Ice is an elementalist elite choice, yet there are zero water hexes. There needs to be designated everyday skills that are seperate from the rotation skills. It seems like there could be some of those already, but they aren't designated.

There also needs to be a more casual player friendly. Having an NPC to put together a partial build based on the primary profession would help the casual player. That would mean combinations would have to be designated, and asking the wiki community might be a good way to generate most of those. It would help with Mirror of Ice being an available skill yet not having a use. Making groups able to enter into the Codex Arena regardless of size would also be a nice addition for the casual player. 1-4 player groups should be able to enter the arena. ~>Sins WDBUser The Sins We Die By Sig.png 17:21, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
