Introduction[edit]

ANET ALREADY HAS THIS UNDER CONTROL, IGNORE THIS SUGGESTION

Sorry, this part of the page has been modified a couple of times and might look wrong. I also accidently modified this while logged in as an IP.

I, and probably many others think that the boss battles in Guild Wars 1 were very bad, either you steamrolled the boss and his mob or you wiped becuase of bad henchmen. The final bosses of the campagins were good, and a few others too. They were against a single, often large enemy, sometimes with minions, that took time and skill(at least in hard mode) to beat. But as Guild Wars 2 is a new game, with new technology, I think that much better can be achieved. I will use an example boss called "The Annihilator" for this.

The Annihilator[edit]

I will be using made up lore for this, not acual in game lore, because I do not know much about it. So do NOT take any of this as actual in game lore.

The Annihilator is a pretty large creature with three legs and a snake head and neck coming from a small body(I know, I suck at coming up with good bosses), made out of rock and lava since it is a servant of Primordus.

The skills[edit]

Just like the developers I think that the old DPS/tank/heal will not do for bosses. Not at all. All, or at least most of the bosses skills should require players to react to them in some way, or protect themselves against them.

Lava flow: The snake head spews a river of lava at an area crowded by players, this lava will deal heavy damage and possibly kill(aka defeat)those who are hit directly. This river will still be at this location for a while, preventing players from crossing it.

Lava chasm: Basically an "upgraded" version of lava flow. It does not targert a crowded area however, but instead it tries to break the players apart from each other. This skill makes the creature use one of it's legs to stomp(or something)and cracking the ground, making a deep chasm with lava at the bottom. This chasm will not vanish like the river, but the creature can only use this skill a very few times(two or so). Falling into the chasm means instant defeat.

Breathe fire: A normal attack type thing where the creature breathes fire at a crowded area, damaging but also making them move away from the area, and possibly run into a lava chasm or river.

Serpent servants: Summons serpents similar to the creature's head from the chasms to distract players while it heals itself or uses another form of defencive skill. These serpents can hurls fireballs at players, so they are not to be completely ignored.

Strengthen shell: This skill protects The Annihilator from damage for a period of time, similar to the Guild Wars 1 skill Shielding hands. This skill however can be stacked and has a longer effect time than recharge time.

Drink lava: The Annihilator drinks from a lava river, one of the ones it has created, and regains health. It can be interuppted while doing this, although like a few Guild Wars 1 monsters, it will takes several attempts to interuppt it successfully. That means that it gains health while "activating" the skills(drinking)but nothing happens upon completed activasion except that it stops drinking.

This boss is made towards controlling the movement and positioning of players and distracting them while using defence to make itself harder to kill.

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for reading my suggestion and sorry if I spelled some words incorrectly, I am not from an english speaking country.
