Nice. I like and agree with most of it. I think you should have placed the suggestion in World and Mechanics though. Maybe you can edit it to move where you feel best. I do think Anet should test a non-combat mount as well, for the sake of vanity. Since Anet doesn't want players able to run through mobs, I would assume a mount that knocks off the player with 1 hit would possibly get approved so that players can trot around just for the sake of trotting around. Anet also said at Eurogamer that if they do have mounts, they'll be like environmental weapons, just like your suggestion. While mounts aren't needed, people just like having them. One would hope Anet places them in, with whatever restrictions necessary to preserve game content. Wazwolf 04:13, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Well i thought about it for a decent amount of time, and i finally picked Player Interaction because this is where ultimately the test should be about, if you add mounts how does this effect how players interact with the game, as well as with eachother. The other catagories made less sense, as i am not suggesting a certain mechanic for the mounts (i gave a possible template to keep focus on testing and not 'how to do mounts'), and the suggestion wasn't realy about 'the world' either. Then i put as many different things on the mount to be able to test what's important, if it turns out fighting isn't working for some reason, but it's still a nice way to travel, that will point towards non-combat mounts. Similar with running through mobs, if that turns out to be a problem a one hit dismount could work, but that also dismisses fighting on a mount. Hence I tried to put as little restrictions on the suggestion, and a broad template, so that all these things can be tested to provide an answer, without having to resort to theory crafting and emotional arguments.--Arghore 16:54, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

If people[edit]

If people hate getting stuff added to the game, they hate it more when stuff is taken away. so yea. no test mounts ChaosBurst 14:55, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Seeing both the alpha as well as the closed beta are under an NDA, all people would know is that mounts were tested, and what the outcome of that would be... everything is added or taken away during a testing phaze, because that what testing is about --Arghore 02:46, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Why there shouldn't be mounts, (or why I don't like them)[edit]

Attention whores, "Look at me" , "I'm so cool~~". Just look up "mmorpg mounts" in google images and gaze upon the bullshizness and over flamboyancy of them. Sure they have their uses, but I'd perfer to keep the mounts small, NOT flashy, useful but not "overpowered" and such, or if anything, rangers should be able to mount their pets (if appropiate) and gain a 10% swiftness buff in excahnge for a degenerative dodge bar --Eclipse143 16:55, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

A different purpose[edit]

Mounts are indeed just gonna be used as a show off in regular PvE and not contribute any real value then that. But perhaps use this show off in a different way? No mounts in the regular PvE but mounts in special mini-games. For example make a stable in which players can store/buy mounts. People can use these mounts in let's say for example races. This would stop the annoyance of showing off since people who don't like it just do not go to these mini-games while people who do like it or just like mounts in general can still enjoy them. Sure it won't speed up movement speed in-game. But as far as I've read Anet solved this on their own way (For example asura gate's)--Kilaa1000 21:15, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
