You really are lacking information. They already said several times there won't be loot in the game. For various reasons in their philosophy:

  • All the armours will be pratically the same in stats and all. You can find the armour you like the most at mid lvl or low lvl and stay with it forever. Why? because what matters is runes. You find the armour you like and stay with it, what differs is the power it recieves from the runes it has implemented, which you can swap everytime you buy better runes (with in-game money or karma).
  • They are against the idea of players beeing luckier in finding items than other players. Specially items that give advantages in gameplay.
  • They want something that give players the ability to chose what they want the most, considering the quantity of karma they got from their contribution to the event. That way there isn't unnecessary items in the inventory/bank too.

So the only rewards players get from events and all other stuff is Exp and Karma. You can use Karma to buy whatever items you want. -- Morcotulcon 14:52, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Obviously there is loot in the game, it's not like nothing is ever dropped. Also, I don't remember them saying anything about being able to stick with the same armor throughout the game because what matters are the 'runes' (even though there are no runes anymore, they're called marks), and I've followed the game very closely throughout its development. That's just unrealistic, to not have to progressively get better armor. Also, I know that players get karma for events, and I know they can use it to purchase things, but I'm talking about getting armor from enemies, not as a reward. I don't think I'm lacking information, I think you just assume these things because all ArenaNet has said to the public about armor is little tid-bits of information that beat around the bush, leading to misconceptions. About Loot I think i misunderstood what you were asking. As I said, there won't exist loot as an event/dungeon reward. But yes, there will be loot from each monster you kill, as an immediate response for doing so. http://www.arena.net/blog/colin-johanson-answers-your-dynamic-event-questions . As I read/heard from devs in other interviews/videos/articles, they don't want a player to feel that he got luck by aquiring a special loot that others can't, so i suppose the loot that falls from monsters must be equally available for everyone. Don't know exactly how, since I didn't played the demo.
About the Gear, I think I heard/read about the info I said somewhere (I have the feeling it was on a video at gamescom, when a player was playing a demo with a dev next to him telling him about this). Now I can't find the source. Maybe a source about dyes for gear can have that info too. Can't remmember. Since I can't find the source, I think is better to just wait and see what info they deliver us about gear in the future. But they said that gear will be more important in the game. How so, we don't know exactly. It can be important in terms of having the gear we want with the colours we want, or in terms of representing what kind of combat we might have considering the gear we use... or even considering the enviroment we're in (playing in water environment), it can be in a lot of ways. Sorry for saying something I can't find a prove right now! x.x
About runes beeing now Marks, I knew about that. People just ask a lot "what are Marks?"... saying runes is simpler for them to undestand, since they are used to the term, at least untill people start playing the game. -- Morcotulcon 13:17, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
It's so annoying! ArenaNet just keeps answering the same questions over, and over again! Beef Mcnugget 23:38, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

There already ARE equippable armor pieces drops in the game. Just watch a bunch of videos and see yourself. The system seems to work just like in other MMOs - unfortunately the weapon and armor drops are strictly predefined and have fixed stats - always the same, no variety in the drops themselves. I hope the system used now is just a placeholder and they will come up with something better, especially including more intense randomization of the world drops and their stats to make hunting for nice gear fun instead of stale and fully predictable. Loot should never be predictable, the more unexpected awesomeness is to be found the more fun the farming is. Sadly no MMO so far did this aspect right... Oh, and for players who want everything predictable and fixed there will surely be a plenty of other ways to obtain armor, like npc crafters, karma vendors, storyline rewards, maybe player-crafting... it's not like Anet will ever make players have to farm or that the whole game will be ABOUT the gear, ofcourse not. It would be just great to have this aspect of the game not suck this time. --YawgYawg 18:56, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
