Feedback talk:User/DannyTheDude/Music instruments usable by players

Imagine players who dont know how to make music gathering and creating a chaos orchestra. that would make everyone run away from that place ( even NPCs LOL) . Your idea can be good in 2 ways: 1) its nice to see players using instruments not like in GW1 where they were just miming; 2) if you consider that "music interface" a sort of personal radio like in GTA than its a nice idea listening to the music you like directly from the game jukebox.

lol i liked the idea of holding instruments, but the idea of them actually making music would be annoying because in a major town too many would be going on at once making it just jumbled annoying soundAurenXneruA 16:55, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

I like the idea. To address the concerns raised above, do two things. First, the volume of the music being played scales with distance. As you get further away from the source, it fades. Thus, you won't have a cacophany of sound when walking through a town because you will only hear the "band" nearest to you. Secondly, allow an option to turn on/off player-created music. Those who don't want to hear it never will; even if they're practically standing on top of a full orchestra of players using musical instruments. Guild Wars 3 perhaps 01:36, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

It wouldn't be possible, most people are clueless about music, so it would probably end up as chaos, like the above person said. However, I do like the idea of instruments. Although it would be unwise for there to be real sound, a character could have a real instrument that will show up with commands like /flute. Weindrasi 07:27, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Weindrasi
What wouldn't be possible; the scaling of the sound with distance? If that is what you were referring to, it's already been mentioned during the week devoted to sound design that sounds in the game do scale with distance. There's no reason the same couldn't be applied to musical instruments being used by players. And, just like the in-game music and sound efffects, there could be an additional slider in the options panel to increase or decrease (or even turn off altogether) player-created music.
I agree most of it would be a cacophony of chaos that no one save the "musicians" themselves would want to listen to. But I envision a few "bands" actually being half-way decent. They would rise to the top and players may seek them out in towns to listen to their next jam session. It would add some nice flavor to the game without taking anything away from it so long as you give everyone total control over listening to player-created music or not.
If they do add instruments to the game (with or without sound), please add some huge Koto drums/War drums for the Charr. Guild Wars 3 perhaps 18:18, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

If they implement this, I would also hope for a purchasable hat or can. When placed on the ground other players could make donations wired to the player that placed it. Of course it could be given a 10 minute to one hour time limit before it disappears to avoid hat or can spam. User Gcenac Image-Donut.jpgDon The Donutmaker 05:44, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

The whole idea is great! maybe all of the larger outposts should have designated busking places, where anyone can come up, place down a hat, and start playing their favourite instrument :) would be great for poorer players to make a bit of money. it's just one of those ideas thats fun, and would really make towns come alive --Ajna 15:03, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
