Feedback talk:User/DoorMoon/Underwater combat in PvP
Underwater PvP combat definitely does sound like it would be fun and add an interesting element of tactics. However, this may raise an issue with land/water skills being balanced. Provided they were well balanced, the only other problem I can think of would be attacking people in the land/water from the land/water. I would imagine most of the land skills would work on submerged foes, though it seems that some underwater skills may not work on people that are on land. I assume that most of that would be worked out for PvE though. One option would be to have separate PvP maps for land/underwater skills (i.e. most maps would be all land, maybe with some shallow water, but some maps would be virtually ALL underwater). Aside from just making it so that land skills don't affect people in the water, and vice versa of course, which would raise a few problems, of course. Kormon Balser 20:30, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
I have to agree with Kormon Balser. I can see that it would of course be a problem having people standing on shore spamming land-based aoe's on submerged people. I can't see any other profession than the elementalist manipulating water to attack land-camping enemies at this point either which looks obviously correct to me. I feel that ArenaNet has to really dig deep in their creativity if they would make submerged face-offs work as well with land-based face-offs. Personally I would like to experience both land and water during PvP if ArenaNet make this work otherwise they should focus on separating both land-based PvP and water-based PvP from each other to avoid this to happen. - To both, I can see this being balanced just fine left alone. Yes, whille attacking from shore does have it's merits, being submerged gives players more control over z-axis movement, so it will be harder to hit them from land. Not only that, as they increase depth in the water they will be able to escap view and create distance. I can also see floating on the surface of water allowing people to attack from the water to land, with some skills failing (I don't see magic flying shrimp working on land.
