Guild wars 1 works perfectly on Wine so if they tested GW2 on wine as they develop it, they wouldn't need to make a native client and people could run it on Linux easily --Ajna 13:33, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Wine is hit-or-miss, one release will work, the next may not. A native port is a better option. If done right with adequate abstraction library(which would be the case for any competent developers), porting game is easy. Especially since they confirmed consoles ports, adding a Linux port would be a matter of recompiling. Lolwut 17:36, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Are you sure they confirmed the console port, last i hear it was merely a "looking into"? Likely to only be Xbox as they are using DirectX as the renderer. +1 for the linux build though, gaming is the only reason I keep my windows partition. Phores 11:46, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
A native-to-linux client is a dream, though it ought to be one that A-Net shares. The OUYA gets its funding today. Can you imagine GW2 breaking-through onto a console? A-Net, ya ought not be so hasty to deny the nerds their wishes. --71.72.96.55 18:09, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
