Feedback talk:User/Ozelgoze/Class specific mounts and mount skills
I'm not sure I agree with your first assertion - do all MMO players like to ride things? I don't think that I do, especially if their introduction means that you place your character at a noticeable disadvantage by not equipping a rideable pet/machine all the time. (And as a pet peeve, most games completely overdo the submission of all kinds of animals to the whims of PCs - see Ranger pets - and don't address the ethics or consequences of placing them in danger at all.) A few thoughts:
- How would riding interface with combat (PvE/PvP) and with jumping puzzles?
- Do mounts have their own health like Ranger pets, or are you invulnerable while riding?
- Do you gain a permanent speed boost whenever you are sitting on a rideable creature, or are there other considerations such as terrain type, mount energy or exhaustion, and creature type?
- Do conditions and buffs that affect players also affect rideable creatures?
- Can they dodge - and if so, how?
- What happens if they enter the water, do your skills change?
- How will mounts consume an equivalent amount of currency over time as waypoints do, and what sort of upkeep would be required?
- What happens to utility and elite skills while you are mounted?
- What impact would numerous characters riding large creatures have on the performance and impact of large-scale dynamic events or WvW?
I'm not completely against the idea, I just wouldn't want riding to be just like every other game when so much of GW2 is overflowing with innovation and insightful design. I also would very much prefer that if the intent is mainly to provide speed, alternatives for characters who prefer to be relying on their own independence be available as well so that you can OUTRUN A CENTAUR if you prefer. -- Avaera 06:32, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
