I think this is a fairly interesting idea. I think, if you actually go for doing this, ther ehave to be some tight controls put on it, given the fancy skins and such. You said it pretty well: If you register an armor set. You can create that Armor Set, but I think that it should come with NO Runes or Insignias, undyed. It's customized, can't be salvaged (you can't salvage off anything you place in it, either), can't be dropped, traded, stored, or sold. If you have a piece of that armor set in your inventory, you can't make another, just like with bonus weapons.

The snag in weapons is that by equipping them to HEROES, you can then make more. Anet would need to get around that or you suddenly are running around with max inscribable highskin weapons for all your heroes. --Flarelord 01:00, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

just put your extra armor on a mule or xunlai. problem solved. --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 01:22, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I hate having to actually play to get armour for different builds after I have earned the first one. And yes, I am serious, as much as it sounds like sarcasm. This would also solve part of the problem of being hacked, if your armour and weapons get thrown out you can still get them back and recover. Pika Fan 01:37, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
@Flarelord:
Maybe a crafter that allows you to pick dye color and runes for armor, and weapon mods for... well weapons (like how PvP armor and weapons are crafted)? maybe unlock the runes, dye colors and weapon mods with zaishen coins? What do you think about that?
If they decide to implement this idea, then the "snag" you mentioned should indeed get solved/fixed before implementing this suggestion.
@Adrin:
Euhm.... What? Wich problem would be solved? The inventory space? If so, putting your "extra armor" on a mule or storing it in storage will still require inventory space. Also personally I don't like having the armor on a different character, it's inconvenient if you need it.
@Pika Fan:
This won't take away the part that you have to play to get armor for different builds. You still have to buy the 15k armors (or armors that can be displayed in HoM) from an armor crafter. This would however give you the option to delete 15k armors (or more expensive armors) in order to save storage. --talk Qaletaqa Hania 04:17, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Keeping items in mules is plain stupid. When players have to do that, it's because the game design is flawed. Yes, many games are like that, and so, many people got used to that, and they ended thinking of it as 'normal'. But it is not. And yes, many people do so. Yes, even the developers. And yes, everyone does stupid things, even on purpose, including myself. That doesn't make it less stupid, and it's not an excuse to keep doing so. The only way to really solve any storage problems is making it unnecessary. In RPGs like Final Fantasy, they solve it by having a slot for each item. But that can't be done here, because items are much more, and complex, composed of parts, instead single unique items. Then, what do you do? Allow to 'store' each separate part? That can't be done either. This won't make storage issues vanish, but will ease them. If the HoM shows a weapon, it's because you already got it once. And if when you go away and come back it stays, it's because that data has been saved, and can be accessed. So, all that would be left is designing the NPC, its dialogs, the processes that check the available unlocked items, the processes to create customized copies of them and check if you already have them on you (including the original one) but not your heroes (that is, using the already existing method /bonusitems use) and then create the copy on the character. Will it solve all storage problems? Of course not. But it will help, and make the HoM a little more of a better place, where you can store prestige armors and weapons, not just a place to fill up and forget about it until GW2 comes up or when you get a new miniature.
