Melee Healer would be nice, like the Bear Shaman--Knighthonor 23:59, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not familiar with the Bear Shaman. Guild Wars is the only mmo that I have truly gotten into, so I'm clueless when it comes to other games (DnD being the exception). In any case, this class wouldn't have hard heals, as something along the lines of a monk (GW1) would be better suited for that role. This class isn't going to be one of those uber powerful classes where everyone will want one just because of all the neat stuff they can do but, also, because of the amount of support it can offer a party. This class in my mind will almost be a cross, not literally though (only in essence), of an assassin and a paragon in terms of what they currently bring to a party: great melee back up and great heal backup when played out skill fully. Like I said on the main page, I have more fleshed out for this concept, but I'm not going to waist my time putting stuff on the board when no one cares.
- Awakened (singular and plural = Awakened) have the potential to be powerful characters, seemingly overpowered at times, but I'm trying to set it up where that power only comes as the class progresses. Additionally, I'm hoping that the environment of Cantha will help support this by offering tougher environments for which the Awakened can excel as a profession. And on a last note: We're going to be fighting dragons. Not The Dragon's Lair or Unwaking Waters battles. Battles that will could possibly (potentially) be epic. Epic battles deserve epic characters. That's what I'm trying to create with Awakened. --Ravencroft0 00:55, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks for reading, Knighthonor. :) --Ravencroft0 00:55, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
I have recently become aware that there are some issues concerning editing suggestions once they've been posted. Would one of you who are responsible for overseeing proper wiki usage or someone knowledgeable explain this one to me? --Ravencroft0 12:29, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Unarmed Strike Mastery[edit]
- Its fundamentally flawed. Just as the assassin is. I'll explain why, using the assassin. Assassins have daggers. Yes? Yes. Some of the problems with daggers is that they deal absolutely terrible damage, Strip you of a sheild, And provide no real benefit with their low attack rate as an axe or spear could do pretty much the same thing.
- Whats the first solution that comes to mind for this? Buff their attack skills. So because of all the drawbacks that assassins have (being up front, being squishy, and having a shitty weapon as their primary) You would need to provide them MASSIVE melee bonuses to compensate. Your idea suffers from the same problem and will be doing absolutely insane amounts of incredibly hard to counter damage incredibly fast.
- Its a nice idea, and like assassins it would probably be fun to play. But it would be incredibly imbalanced and would lean to the newest lame-ass solo gimmick and would immediately be nerfed into oblivion. And It would probably frustrate you immensely to see your brain child metaphorically taken from you and put in a death-camp.

- lol I was actually in the process of nerfing it when you posted this. I agree, and I even said the awakened would seem op at times in game. I haven't even listed the kinds of skills they are going to have, or more importantly the drawbacks of using their skills: recharge times that are on par with mesmers. Mesmers could potentially dominate if it weren't for those long recharge times, so you have to play the profession's skills with forethought, otherwise, you die and your party is short a support member.
- Example of an awakened skill: Round House Kick 6 KI 5 Attack skill. You deal 15...23...25 damage to 1...3...3 foes. Unarmed Strike Mastery
- Ki stands for Kinetic energy or chi energy, I haven't decided yet. I think I'll put it to vote. Anyway Round House Kick seems like a typical attack skill. You got a decent damage output, and then you have some aoe damage. Nice combo really. You can only use it every five seconds and after you've accumualted 6 Ki energy. Ki energy works almost the exact opposite of adrenaline, whereas with Adrenaline you get more by hitting things, but with awakened you get more ki energy by getting hit. Let's say I'm an awakened on the front lines getting it handed to me by a tank class. I hit him enough times in tandem with him hitting me enough times that RHK is ready for use. I use it. Now I have to wait about 8 seconds for the skill to be usable again (guesstimated math), by that time, if I don't have any other defenses set in place I will might have taken about 160 damage, from a single source, and that's without any speed boosts on either side. Yes, this class is capable of crazy abilities that I'm constantly trying to keep balanced. Part of the balancing is often applying long, long cost/cast/recharge times. As of right now, the skills I have that are OP in terms of effects have at least a 10. Also if they happen to inflict some type of condition or crap loads of damage, your skills could get disabled for a period of time or you could suffer a condition yourself, e.g. Exhaustion.
- For example: Divine Wind Blast Elite attack skill. 20 Ki 20 Target foe is struck for 60...108...120 chaos damage. Your ki skills are disabled for 10...6...5 seconds. You are exhausted. Enlightenment
- Also, in regards to all the attack skills an assassin has to pull off high DPS, awakened won't have that many skills. I was thinking no more than 60 skills total, including elites, as I want to keep with the GW2 model of "quality, not quantity." I'm seriously considering making this idea an open-source community project and moving the whole thing over to a user page. Input such as yours, Briar, is greatly appreciated. thanks for posting your comments/views. --Ravencroft0 12:25, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- I have decided that ki energy will be the shortened form of kinetic energy. This is a major update. >.>...--Ravencroft0 11:06, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
