This page is a rejected guideline proposal. It has been unable to gain consensus support or it was replaced by an improved proposal. |
Do not make proposals without providing evidence or an argument citing instances within the wiki which indicate a need for said proposal. The main purpose of this guideline is to provide a buffer to reject proposals which have no demonstrated need. A secondary purpose to this proposal is to provide a base point of discussions to consider the legitimacy and value of the proposal, in consideration the the instances or examples cited for its creation.
Discussion of the worth of a proposal will take into account the cited instances to evaluate its existence.
Examples[edit]
Proposals should cite a series of discussions or issues within the wiki to demonstrate the need.
Examples should include, but are not limited to;
- An example/s of an incident which has occurred that the proposal is intended to deal with it.
- An explanation/s for why this incident is not wanted on the wiki.
- An explanation/s for why this incident justifies the existence of a policy.
"I can't be bothered find the examples but they are there," is not evidence.
Citing one incidence is all that is required, however it is allowed and encouraged to cite more than one if you beleive them to add to the strength of the case.
This proposal is not meant to block potentially useful policies or guidelines, but to provide a guide to submitting proposals with demonstrated need.
