This page is a rejected policy proposal. It has been unable to gain consensual support or it was replaced by an improved proposal.

Do not use sarcasm on the wiki. The purpose of this proposal is to prevent the use of sarcasm which is often found to fail the Internet and lead to flame wars. Sarcasm does not directly add to the wiki and distracts from constructive conversations, often leading to problems and user conflicts.

Examples

• Witty language used to convey insults or scorn.
• The use of verbal irony in which a person appears to be praising something but is actually insulting it.
• Expressing sneering, personal disapproval in the guise of praise.
• Comments intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.
• Raw and scornful use of apparent approval to express disapproval.

Enforcement

Detected sarcasm on the wiki is to be dealt with by the Adminship with a ban considering the context of the situation.
