This article refers to the way policies and guidelines are imposed over users, specially in what refers to users enforcing policies.
General policy enforcement[edit]
- Policies are meant to solve issues that arise as the wiki grows. Policies are not meant to become the source of issues.
- While policies try to cover as many variants of an issue as possible, they can still leave something out. As such, policies are in no way limited themselves to what is written, but to the reason why the policy exists (from now, "spirit of the policy").
- If there are doubts about how a policy should be interpreted, users should request help for clarifying it, and ask for amendments on the policy in case of being necessary.
- Policy enforcement is placed in the hands of sysops.
- While Sysops are allowed to enforce the "spirit of the policy" instead of the policy itself, they are asked to mention such "spirit of the policy" enforcements on the policy's talk page so that the issue may be addressed in future policy change proposals.".
General guideline enforcement[edit]
- Guidelines are generated as a way to standardize content and procedures on the Wiki. As such, users are expected to abide by them.
- Formatting guidelines are not subject to the same level of interpretation as policies, but are always dependent on requirements of the wiki and the documentation of the game itself.
- Guidelines enforcement should be put on hold if a reason for its not application arises. If this is the case, a change request should be done, and the article or guideline corrected once consensus is reached.
Policy and guidelines enforcement by users[edit]
- Users are allowed to inform other editors about policy and guideline breaches, but are in no way forced to do it.
- While users can notify about policy breaches, they should be cautious while doing it, and assume good faith.
- While notifying, users should limit themselves to explain the policy or guideline that is being breached, helping if possible to reach it's compliance.
- If, after a certain amount of time (stated by the policy breached), the first warning is still ignored, the user should inform directly on the admin noticeboard for further action to be taken. The same user should avoid giving a second warning over the same issue to and editor.
- Users are not allowed to try to enforce policies or guidelines if another editor decides to openly not follow them (excluding vandalism or those situations stated on GWW:1RR). Users should limit themselves to notify on the Admin Noticeboard or request for an ArbComm in case of being necessary.
