Guild Wars Wiki talk:Requests for adminship/Chieftain Alex
Neutral responses[edit]
I agree with the caveats raised by Pling & Tanetris, but I still support the nomination.
Alex does have a tendency to offer unsympathetic or harsh edit summaries or replies. While this is fine for anti-vandalism edits, it has the tendency to stifle contributions by anons and low-frequency editors and it often creates conflict where none is needed. One doesn't have to be 100% gracious or polite to be effective (case in point: Auron), but there needs to be a balance between saying what you think and serving the needs of the community.
I am +1/Support rather than +0/Neutral because (a) Alex already performs the less-fun aspects of administration, (b) his instincts for protecting the wiki are usually extremely good, (c) and he understands the community and the code. For the point in dispute, I have seen him act diplomatically, so I am sure he is able to make the appropriate adjustment.
To be 100% clear: this isn't about anyone's fucking language, it's about respecting other points of view, even if they might be "wrong" or "bad" for the wiki. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:23, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
