MARA 5th Birthday Community Event[edit]
The Event[edit]
MARA would like to invite you to take part in our community event as part of our 5th birthday celebrations on November 13th. You will find many games and nice prizes on offer. I'll hold back with some of the details until nearer the event, but you can be sure every event will be worth your while taking part in and we hope you have a little fun taking part in as much as possible. Expect news to appear later and possibly the introduction of more events outside the event schedule. GW-EN have kindly offered to support us during this event so you can expect to see some of the familiar bubbly characters helping keep you entertained. A little about MARA. We're a 30+ guild created on 13th November 2005. The objective of the guild is to create a safe haven for the older gamers who want to play alongside those of a similar age group, life experience, interests etc and have grown from the original Kurzick guild Bald Fat Lazy and Proud [WIMP] into 13 guilds, 2 self made alliances Kurzick and Luxon. With this event we would like to share our success with the community, with prizes mostly geared towards contributing towards helping people fill their HoM's. We would also like to steer people into the direction of some of the great communities who do a lot of work to help out, such as GW-EN and their great charity work and YouTube with lots of helpful producers and guides, both with strong communities and comrade.
Main Event Schedule[edit]
Times: 2pm -8pm (-6GMT) : 8pm – 2am (GMT) : 6am – 12pm (+11GMT)
- Video Response competition ends at 7pm GMT to allow time for winners to be established.
- Video comments ends at 11pm GMT to allow for winners to be established.
- Screenshot competitions end at 8pm GMT
Main event to run in the Asian districts of Lions Arch, Korea (d1), Chinese (d2), Japan (d3).
Main Event
20:00 – 20:30
- Introductions, bit of a dance and conga to get warmed up. Booze and tonics will be given out.
20:30 – 21:00
- Worst Dressed Character to run in d1, d2 and d3 at the same time. Winners go to final.
21:00 – 21:30
- More booze and tonics, conga to settle at new location.
- Lets hear your best GW jokes. Prize for winner.
21:30 – 22:00
- Best Dressed Male to run in d1, d2 and d3 at the same time. Winners go to final.
22:00 – 22:30
- More booze and tonics, conga to settle at new location.
- Simon Says with lots of giveaway prizes for first correct response.
22:30 – 23:00
- Best Dressed Female to run in d1, d2 and d3 at the same time. Winners go to final.
23:00 – 23:30
- More booze and tonics, conga to settle at new location.
- Trivia – be the first to answer some random GW/MARA trivia questions for your chance to win a prize.
23:30 – 00:00
- Announce screenshot winners off the GW-EN forum.
- Give thanks to GW-EN for all their help and give awareness towards ‘Gamers Giving Back’ and their charity work.

Video Competitions (to be run on YouTube)[edit]
As part of our promotional video we have a couple of competitions that you are all free to take part in and win the prizes. Maybe get you interested in YouTube a little, inspire you make movies yourself maybe, hey start now and you’ll be on song for some good stuff with GW2, its really not that hard once you get started.
Video Competition (Video Response)
Entrants must respond to the promotional video with a video of their own. The video must be GW related and make some reference to MARA. It could be an intro movie, a jingle, comedy, whatever, be creative, lets see what you can come come up with. If it helps we’re a 30+ guild so there might be a few oldies.
Only one winner for this competition, but still a nice prize hey! 10 Undedicated Minipets, 5 Hero Armour, 3 Destroyer Weaps, 3 Armbrace, 3 Elite Armour Sets, 100 Lockpicks, 5 Black Dye, 5 White Dye, 1 Stack of Aged Ale, 1 Keg of Ale, 10 Consets, 1 Superior Vigour.
Video Competition (Comments Lottery)
To enter you need to make a comment on the promotional video. You can comment as many times as you like but please keep to legitimate comments, spam will be deleted, have some fun with your comments. After the entry closes a note will be made of the number of comments made, that number will then be entered into a randomiser for a 3 prizes.

Screenshot Competition (to be run on GW-ENs forum)[edit]
This competition celebrates MARAs first ever proper guild competition which we’d like to replay with you and offer some pretty nice prizes in kind. There will be 3 categories; Humor, Scenery and Gatherings. You can enter one screenshot per category, only 1 or we’ll never be able to decide lol. Each category will have its own thread to submit them to. Its suggested you host your image at somewhere like tinypic.com Each will have their own winners with prizes being rewarded for the top 3 for each category. You can edit your humor entry but the scenery and gathering entries should be unedited shots. The prizes for each category will be as follows -
First 1 Elite armor set, 5 Coffers, 1 End game weapon token, 1 Elite tome for each profession, 10 Normal tomes for each profession, Undedicated Celestial Mini, 10 Red Rock Candy, 1 Keg of Ale.
Second 5 Coffers, 5 Random Elite Tomes, 25 Random Normal Tomes, 1 Undedicated Purple Mini, 1 keg of Ale, 10 Blue Rock Candy.

Worst Dressed Competition[edit]
Considering how much hard work the developers put into making this a beautiful game it saddens me to say there’s still some scruffy looking travelers about. Is it time for you to smarten up your image? put an end to the constant ridicule of how ugly characters like you should be fed to Grenth at birth! Win this competition and enter the world of beautiful people. But be forever tagged as Guild Wars Tramp (meh small price to pay) Each of the 3 districts will hold a competition at the same time. There will be 3 Judge in each district. Each judge will select 2 people to enter the final panel list.
Each member to make it to the final panel will receive 1 Random Elite Tome, 5 Random Normal Tomes, 5 Green Rock Candy.
The Winner of each district will receive the following prize along with entry to the final for the covert title of Guild Wars Tramp. 1 Unidentified Gold Minipet, 5 White Dye, 1 Hero Armour, 10 Blue Rock Candy.
The final decider for Guild Wars Tramp title will be held in d1 (Korea) where the winner will also gain the following: 1 Crown, 1 Elite Armour Set, 1 Mask of Mo Zing, 1 Hero Armour, 10 Red Rock Candy, 5 Black Dyes
Best Dressed Male Competition[edit]
Oh yes! You know you got it! Well do you? Lets see how mucho macho you really are. Join us to find out who really is the best looking guy in Guild Wars and earns the coveted title of Mr Guild Wars. You are The Man! Your lucky, I’m not allowed to enter so now you all actually have a chance of winning YAY! Each of the 3 districts will hold a competition at the same time. There will be 3 Judge in each district. Each judge will select 2 people to enter the final panel list.
Each member to make it to the final panel will receive 1 Random Elite Tome, 5 Random Normal Tomes, 5 Green Rock Candy.
The Winner of each district will receive the following prize along with entry to the final for the covert title of Mr Guild Wars. 1 Dread Mask, 5 White Dyes, 1 Hero Armour, 10 Blue Rock Candy.
The final decider for Mr Guild Wars title will be held in d1 (Korea) where the winner will also gain the following: 1 Crown, 1 Elite Armour Set, 1 Destroyer Gloves, 5 Black Dyes, 1 Hero Armour, 10 Red Rock Candy, 10 Consets.

Hello ladies! How about a twirl for the lads then? They know they love it! What? No? They don’t? Oh well how about you Guild Wars girls coming out and showing us fine gentleman what classy ladies you really are. <wink> You’ll be battling not just for honor but also to impress me….ooops did I say that out loud? No no but also for the ultimate bragging rights and crown as the Mrs Guild Wars. Whose gonna mess with ya now hey? Each of the 3 districts will hold a competition at the same time. There will be 3 Judge in each district. Each judge will select 2 people to enter the final panel list.

GW-EN and Blade Radio[edit]
This event will be supported by GW-EN (Gaming World Entertainment Network) with DJ's Malibu Barbie, Judge Ra etc. Please check out their site and some of the good work they do for both the GW community and charities along with their GW radio station.
