they do use healing spring when in melee range - i have amended as appropriate 194.176.105.38 11:58, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

You are wrong. if you are directly asjacent to them they will not use healing spring. there are some cases however where melee range is not counted as directly adjacent. you need to be stood right next to them. 87.194.137.198 15:51, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Just tested with a perma cryer wielding an axe and they still used it while i was in melee range. lots of moving around and they still used it >.<

love these guys.[edit]

this is my favorite part of FOW, they spiders are easy unless you aggro the whole cave or something, and it's prob just me but shards dropped all the time for me on these guys. Materia user 22:26, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Doubt the Doubter's Dryder[edit]

I am really skeptical that the spawning of these spiders is in any way related to the Doubter's Dryders, but possibly related to a separate trigger. At the south end of the cave, several groups of spiders will continue to pop up over time long after the Dryders have been killed, and the Dryders outside the cave do not have any related popups. Is there something that I'm missing, or does this seem to be a mistaken conclusion? -Sahjiarah 16:28, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Running it again, I consider it to be confirmed that the aggro of the dryder is unrelated, and have adjusted the page accordingly. -Sahjiarah 04:22, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I think there are three things going on that were poorly explained in the note:
  • There's a set of spiders that trigger as you move further into the cave.
  • There's another set of spiders that trigger as you exit the area.
  • It might be that other spiders trigger as you aggro the dryders.
However, I think for the moment, it was fair to remove the previous note. I also think the detailed notes would be better placed with the appropriate FoW quest or walkthrough and that all this article needs to say is, "they spawn as you progress; be careful (see: article X for details). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:31, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
