"This chest contains a purple item attributed to one of the players, usually not the one who opened it."

Wording is easily mistakeable.

It is a random drop for who ever is in compass range, so yes if all 8 players are there you usually won't get it, but it doesn't matter if you opened the chest or not. Now, if you are the only one in range, and an item does drop, it will be for you 100% --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.141.228.228 (talk).

I've opened a bunch of these and got nothing from any of them. I'm playing with heroes, so am I only getting one in eight drops?

Did a fowsc and someone got a crystalline sword from this chest, did anyone know these things drop from that? pic[1]Alcahmahol 14:13, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

The article says "assigned to a random party member within compass range." Does this mean that a solo player can flag heroes away from the chest before opening it to be certain to get the item? Very Ugly 17:36, 4 April 2012

Checked this in FoW with a party containing me and 7 heroes. Opening a chest with the whole group near it did not give me an item. Flagging heroes out of compass range and then opening it got me the item. OTOH, since it only drops purples, it might not be worth the bother. Very Ugly 10:43, 5 April 2012
