Hard Mode fun[edit]
Wow, in HM the Afflicted groups for the quest in this zone have some pretty awesome team builds! Balanced 7-hero teams that vanquished all 3 continents and waltzed through EotN in Hard Mode with barely a scratch didn't survive even 30 seconds here. This is much harder on heroes than DoA and Slaver's Exile. I had to resort to Tyrian old-school tactics, running the agroed groups back beyond their return points and killing the foe that followed furthest, rinse and repeat. I haven't needed to do that in many a year. I guess it was some kind of nostalgic fun, as there were only 3 groups of them. But a full-size zone of these would not be fun at all. (I'll assume wrongly that you're meleeing because lol splinter weapon) Just slap panic on a mesmer hero, micro it to be used just as the afflicted are grouping up (slightly before you teleport into the middle of the mob). Ideally use a RoJ hero or similar on the panicking mob + they will be rupted too much to do any serious damage to you, might want to bring Shield of Absorption on the MM - once you get into the habit of doing this, it becomes second nature and you charge through everything in WoC. - No melees at all, other than the MM's minions, but at this level their role is merely blocking and giving the necros energy, since they barely tickle a level 28 foe. No, looking back on it, the repeated 30-second wipes were undoubtedly caused by RoJ + SF. Since we're talking about 8-man teams, this is of course an easily manageable situation with many different solutions, the simplest being to load up the heros with interrupts. The team still has tons of flexibility, and the wipes are even fun because it's a short trip from the start and trying alternative strategies becomes a pleasure. It's quite unlike what will come later at Minister Cho's, a trial of pain and suffering delivering the disappointment of failure at the end of many hours of work. Shadow's Passage @ WoC is how HM should be, hard but fun. Morgaine 10:34, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
