Like in the other battle standard skill. I think this may be the skill icon User Lou-Saydus Possible Ebon Battle Standard of Wisdom.jpg --Lou-SaydusUser Lou-Saydus Hail Storm.jpg 01:30, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Has anyone found where to get this yet? --onoes! Mafaraxas 20:35, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

At rank 5: For 15 seconds... 44% chance to halve recharge. --onoes! Mafaraxas 06:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Im confused with the note "does not stack with half recharge weapons". Does that mean it doesnt add to the percent chance you get a HSR or that you wont get a 1/4recharge or both?--Justice 09:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

That you won't get a 1/4 recharge, I think. --click moar Mafaraxas 06:18, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Simply, if it stacked it would read: "...have an ADDITIONAL 44...60% chance to halve skill recharge of spells they cast." Eth 11:20, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
that's unclear. does it not stack at all, or is this only a hint that percentual changes are not calculated by addition? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 14:05, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

HSR and HCT mods on weapons are checked for separately, so the percentages are not added together. This means that 40/40 sets are actually 36/36 sets. If two HCT mods trigger, casting time is quartered. Recharge time cannot be reduced by more than half, so if two HSR mods trigger, it will still halve. Here are the percentages with a 40/40 set:

Chance to halve casting time = (0.2*0.8)*100 + (0.8*0.2)*100 = 32%
Chance to quarter casting time = (0.2*0.2)*100 = 4%
Chance for full casting time = (0.8*0.8)*100 = 64%
Chance to halve recharge time = (0.2*0.8)*100 + (0.8*0.2)*100 + (0.2*0.2)*100 = 36%
Chance for full recharge time = (0.8*0.8)*100 = 64%

It's reasonable to assume that Ebon Battle Standard of Wisdom's chance to HSR is also factored in separately. So with a 40/40 set and Battle Standard at max rank (60% HSR):

Chance to halve recharge time = (0.2*0.2*0.6)*100 + (0.2*0.2*0.4)*100 + (0.2*0.8*0.6)*100 + (0.2*0.8*0.4)*100 + (0.8*0.2*0.6)*100 + (0.8*0.2*0.4)*100 + (0.8*0.8*0.6)*100 = 74.4%
Chance for full recharge time = (0.8*0.8*0.4)*100 = 25.6%

So, with just a 40/40 set you have a 36% chance to HSR, and with both a 40/40 set and Battle Standard you have a 74.4% chance to HSR. 86.139.144.161 23:34, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

gezzs, i hate it when some egghead trys to exsplain something by barffing up half the alphabet.Do they think half of the average players understand that crap? The Tater

Most average players probably don't care. For those that do, it's not that hard to understand a few percentages. As for the rest of your comment, I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean (so much butchery of English that I can't understand it, how ironic). 86.139.144.161 11:49, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

So why not simply put the note as:

  • The % chance to halve skill recharge stacks with other sources, but the skill recharge is still capped at 50%.

Inconsistent descriptions re recharge effect[edit]

The long and concise descriptions in the game are inconsistent. The long description talks about "halving skill recharge" which would require spells to recharge 100% faster, not 50% faster as cited in the concise description. The 50% increase in recharge rate cited by the concise description would only reduce spell recharge times by 33%. Basic maths. I don't know which is right, though. See also Talk:Serpent's Quickness. Agreed, it should be something along the lines of "skills recharge at 50% normal rate", if they really want to include that 50% in there. 114.77.98.223 04:49, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
I logged this as a text bug back in February. See Feedback:Bug_reports/Text_bugs#Skill:_Ebon_Battle_Standard_of_Wisdom. Would seem trivial to sort out, but no response yet .... Kirbett 10:37, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Changed Notes[edit]

I changed to notes to say Skill recharge is still capped at half, instead of capped at 50%, because I thought the latter might cause some confusion because the chance of skill recharge is given in % and the skill recharge time is always given in letters (half). 82.95.85.186 13:46, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Best pve skill hands down[edit]

This is probably the best skill out there and you'd be crazy not to have this massive buff on your team. It's especially useful for spam fests where you have to stay in one place and defend the line. This is the strongest PvE skill which EoTN has to offer, better than the Ursan Blessing.
