Talk:Holy damage

From Guild Wars Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

There are basically two types of holy damage, and almost every skill follows the same pattern: holy direct damage is armor-ignoring, and holy attack damage is regular. There is no need to make it further confusing by mentioning "usually", "most of the time", etc., and then attempting to list every skill that is different. Unless I'm missing one, only lightbringer's gaze breaks the pattern. User Greedy Gus sig.jpg Gus 07:45, 22 February 2007 (EST)

Agree for the most part, but there isn't really a difference between Light and Holy except for their origins. Undead monsters and Tormentor's armor don't make a distinction. - Savio mini.gif Savio 10:07, 22 February 2007 (EST)
Direct holy damage from Lightbringer's Gaze is not "armor ignoring", and according to both our Tormentor's armor article and GuildWiki's Tormentor's armor article holy damage is distinct from light damage. -- Gordon Ecker 23:30, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

Still light?[edit]

The articles for these two uniques were edited after the change, but still claims light damage. Don't have the items myself, so I can't check, but this must be wrong, right?

--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Backsword .

I'm guessing they're just outdated. I think it would be okay to change the articles since the update notes claim all light damage weapons have been changed, and update notes are generally presumed to be correct unless there is evidence to the contrary. -- Gordon Ecker 21:54, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
That what I would expect too. However, they've been modified after the update, presumably by someone who knows about them, which I don't. Backsword
Probably just to fix the broken links, which pointed to Light Dmg. Anyway, I've switched them to holy damage. -- Gordon Ecker 05:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Avatar of Balthazar[edit]

According to the description AoB deals holy damage. Is there a reason it is left out or is it just overlooked? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Moeilijk (talk).

it must have been a miss, i just add it. try using the four tides (~) to sign your comment : ) .--lussh 13:07, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Best damage[edit]

Should add a note that this is the best all around damage type in the game?--96.225.153.202 05:11, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

not really. What makes it the best damage type? chaos damage is untyped damage as well --59.100.81.171 05:26, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Its the best damage type because in addition to being untyped, it also deals 2x dmg to undead, and extra damage to tormentors insigina necros. no other damage type has no bonuses that protect against it and also does bonus damage to certain enemies.--96.225.191.24 07:03, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Holy Weapons[edit]

Apologies if I was somehow out of line; I don't usually edit articles but I added a note. I've run into a whole slew of people recently who still think holy damage is always armor ignoring - even for attacks. Someone made it the basis of a rant against Balthatar... and cited wiki. I just figured the note was useful for clarity as the subject is not directly addressed, even though it can be intuited. 75.158.134.214 01:35, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Lightbringer's Gaze[edit]

This skill is in the list of 'Skills that inflict armor-ignoring holy damage' yet the damage from this skill is affected by armor rating. --Combatter 16:42, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

That's because that section name was changed in this 27 February 2012 edit. --Silver Edge 01:47, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
