isnt "mob" another name for the mafia? He Who Likes Arrows 09:05, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Not in GW context — Skuld 09:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
I find the use of this word a good example of the lack of linguistic skills of the online community, myself included. If the word mob has to be used for a single foe, then it should be written in capital letters, like MOB, or M.Ob. or something like that. Imho, most people make a fool of themselves if the talk about a mob consisting of 3 mobs...Nicky Silverstar 08:51, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
In this instance, I believe the term "mob" was derived from the transative verb "mobbed", rather than from the noun mob, which in itself is not a proper noun anyway and thus has no need to be capitalised. Also most people do not refer to a single person/enemy as a mob. However I do understand your point that to refer to a collective mob as 3 mobs etc...is probably not the best use of the English language. However in this context as in PvE, a mob has been taken to mean a group of enemies which share the same pathing and the same agro parameters, so that in agroing 1 of them you agro all of them. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 09:36, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
I guess my age is showing. "MOB" is an old term for a "Mobile Object" or monster. It originated in text-based dungeons, and carried over into early graphical games. Nicky already know that, of course, but other people reading this might not. JgzMan 12:26, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Someone over in the City of Heroes forums has/had a wonderful sigline based on all the uses of this word. There's a Mafia-esque enemy group over there called the Family, so they came up with something like this: "What do you call a large group of Family? A mob of Mob MObs." :) --Star Weaver 16:13, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
