Nerf[edit]

Umm... What was so overpowered about this skill that warranted a nerf? <>208.117.81.202 02:38, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

they just nerfed it to nerf the mesmer/monk builds which were overpowered in gvg. however this skill wasn't what made the bar overpowered, so they nerfed the wrong skill. all they did was nerf an already somewhat underpowered skill. ruined smiteball (which was by no means over powered) and many other builds which already sucked to begin with. they might as well just take monk smite line out of exsistance.

Sign your comments, please. And the Smiting Line is being kept weak on purpose... or at least the 'active smiting' skills, simply because if those skills would deal decent damage, everybody would run 8 monk teams and simply use those smiting skills. The entire line needs a rework, basically. The Active Smiting skills could be buffed, albeit conditionally (cf. Spear of Light), and some other skills could be changed to the likes of Support Smiting (such as Strength of Honor, Reversal of Damage, etc.) Saphatorael 09:28, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
You're wrong. Why would anybody bother putting points into smiting prayers now? There's no reason; too many nerfs. The moment you try smiting prayers, the moment you fail. Smite monks are pure fail now. Who nukes better, smiters or eles, even against armored foes? Of course, eles, yet it takes the same amount of points to level this attribute up as ele's fire magic. Yes, thank you for proving my point? And my suggestions as to what should happen to the entire line would be a good solution. Saphatorael 18:03, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I have to agree with this completely. With the consistent nerfs to smiting monks it makes me extremely sad to see them nerfed down to a pile of rubble. If they want to keep teams of 8 smiting monks in GvG, HA, and everywhere else, ok then. keep the damage low, just please reduce the recharge on some of the smiting skills that have as of right now, ridiculously long recharge times for what the skill actually does. With how smiting prayer's how they are now, they are only good for Strength of Honor and the 600 Smite farming team builds. I really want to be able to stop healing one day and say, "hey I want to do some damage for once," while still being a monk.--66.192.104.10 00:36, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

EPIC DEFEAT.[edit]

Congrats on taking away the last effective offensive smiting build.

They really should just close this line and spare themselves a lot of the misery. =<
Or everyone could just run a smite support monk and actually be happy that smites are useful for at least ONE thing. 82.34.128.95 20:49, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
The Balthazar's Pendulum nerf killed a lot of support from the Smiting Prayers line. Smiter's Boon monks aren't even that effective in 4v4 anymore as they can't counter 1 KD per person the majority of the time. Strength and Honor isn't very practical in PvP anymore because outside of HA and GvG (which the nerf was for, ironically), it would take too long to put up on 2 or more targets. This skill was the most popular smiting skill because it was the only one that wasn't extremely underpowered, now it is except on Assacasters, as they primarily used it for the Knocklock and at half range already because of Dancing Daggers. Don't tell people to be happy, because there really isn't anything in Smiting Prayers to be happy about. 72.81.247.139 15:37, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
support smite is officially useless after smiters boon nerf :(

About to jump to a concusion...[edit]

When i first saw this I jumped at the idea of another skill that assassins have. Deadly Haste. I was about to jump out of my socks in thinking, hey i can make a normal assassin build and stick in SoJ to start off a "falling ___" attack chain. But NO. Because this skill is a half ranged Signet, and not a half ranged Spell; Absolutely nothing occurred to the recharge time when the skill was used. And though this makes perfect sense, i felt a bit cheated by this. Here they make SOJ half ranged, but they still keep the skill Deadly Haste to a complete shelf skill by making it still not synergize with any skill at all that doesn't create an incredibly lack luster build. you cheeky blokes A-net.--66.192.104.10 00:28, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Notice how the Costume Brawl monk bar uses the PvE version of this instead of the PvP one? even A-Net knows their nerf was stupid and un-necessary. =P 66.202.1.169 13:57, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
