Talk:Spirit of Failure
Example: The attack rate of an Assassin and a Warrior is 1.33 seconds (with a sword), that's 23 attacks in 30 secs. with a 25% chance of missing, at least 6 attacks will miss and you will gain 18 energy. If the foe is using a speed buff, the foe is it's pretty much your enery engine. Don't expect a lot of energy when used on a slow melee. Looks like the folks at Arenanet were not dumb when the energy cost of this skill was set at 15.--ShadowFog 20:20, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- And that's never going to happen, hexes gets removed faster than you think, 3 sec cast time is easy to interrupt, and u never attack each 1,33 sec in pvp cuz u run alot, and if u gain 18 energy after 30 seconds when u pay 15 then whats the reason? this was it before; [1], and thats what it should be --Cursed Angel 20:35, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Correction, it's less than 3 secs for the Mesmer, never 3 seconds, remember? Fast Casting?. Why would another class use it? You can reduce it's casting time to almost 1.2 seconds. In the search box, type sword and/or dagger, and read their interval attack time since I was using it as a reference and not as you would peg this to every profession or someone would just sit there and take punishment. Always think of your teammate, it will reduce the pressure or make your melee teammate win. Reason? Self explanatory, make them miss while you waste almost no energy or gain more energy from them,"If the foe is using a speed buff, the foe..." or is Blinded.--ShadowFog 05:35, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- the 25% miss chance and 3 energy gain isnt worth it still, a skill that cause blind with a faster recharge is still a better option. and even if i use like 8 fast casting that is still easy to interrupt and takes alot of time, the recharge is retarded and the energy gain is just 3 more than what u waste casting this on someone. --Cursed Angel 13:17, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Check the list of Hex removing skills and the list of skills that causes Blind. What's the profession that uses a lot of Hex removal? The Monk only. The are only a few good skills that cast an easy Blind, meaning they don't have situational requirements."...the recharge is retarded and the energy gain is just 3..." if that was the case, nobody would have been using Backfire,Arcane Conundrum, Arcane Echo, Drain Enchantment, any energy burn skills, Imagined Burden, Ineptitude, etc. so scratch that. This is to take advantage of the Blind, this skill will never substitute Blind, and if the foe were not Blinded, then apply my first post in this sentence.--ShadowFog 16:10, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- this used to be sexy with distortion but both these skills got nerfed and theres no real meaning in using them anymore, if u dont have any other skills to reduce their chance to hit its useless energy management and this used to be my favorite mesmer skill ): --Cursed Angel 19:59, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Wrong![edit]
Correct wording should be: Binding Ritual. Summon a level -9...0...1 Spirit of Failure. Enemies within its range fail. Paddymew 05:57, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
