This item is commonly used in a 2 person scam. in kamadan and other busy places of trade.

one person will try to trade stone for something expensive.

then leave when you refuse.

second person shows up, stands next to you and starts spamming to buy the stone for a large amount of money.

Their hope is that you trade for the stone to the first person then you try to sell to other second person who wanted to buy.
