water magic, whilst every skill is "ice" lol.....besides steam its not exactly water as much as ice magic.....anet needs to add something like tsunami or water blast or something directly water orientated O.o.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:74.186.169.130 (talk).

Fire, Water, Air and Earth are the original elements of the world before the Periodic Table. Elementalists use Elements. Ice is water. — Eloc 01:05, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
True, and there are more variants, like "Vapor" Blade, and Armor of "Mist". 145.94.74.23 07:41, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

On the other hand, Water Magic is highly underestimated. I think it's 'cause it doesn't have so breathtaking graphical effects, altough it has great skillz. 86.101.55.163 10:19, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

I wish it was "water" magic, though. I know there are a couple skills that aren't about ice...but most of them are. Ice = Grenth...and water would probably = Dwayna...(in liquid form)...and I guess it somewhat is with the whole "storm" idea...idk...Shew File:User Shewmake Shing Jea Island.jpg 18:45, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, Abbadon was the old god of water, before Grenth took over. Maybe Kormir should take it now? :P 173.20.48.178 06:23, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I wish there was some actual water based skills...or maybe like "Blizzard" or something :) It isnt fair how water doesnt have the same damage output as fire :( i think they shud make water a little more powerful...User:familyofcinderpaw

How useful is water magic in pve??[edit]

Worthless in pve and no groups will ever accept you. The only use it has is to stop relic and flag runners.William Wallace 18:24, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Water Magicians can bind mobs for nukers and prevent a break-through to the backline. They are also mor resilient due to skills like Frigid Armor. And a skills, you should carry as a dual attunement Water Elementalist is definetly Maelstrom. They are NOT worthless in PvE, especially when it comes to Destroyers. Noctarch 22:10, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
They can be quite handy actually depending on the situation. — Eloc 01:55, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
wow. you guys, wow. A water ele can pretty much do Fire and Earth with a bit of Air magic in one attruibute. My favorite elite:Shatterstone. Deals an over all of 200dmg to most spellcasters with out many mods. Not to mention can Kill kiters and Melee with blinds. For nukers, the only reason they're so good is that NCP's arn't smart enough to move from AoE spells. against someone who can actually pay attention to his surrondings, Nuking is worthless. Lots of snares. I pwn in PVE Wallace. so don't go spreadin you BS when you don't know what your talking about.Peace out. 70.121.168.43 14:01, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I like how shatterstone is single target, takes forever to cast, and is 15 energy. Bad elite for PvE. Compare it to Savannah Heat, Searing Flames, or Mind Blast/Rodgorts - doesn't touch the damage or the AoE.
Water really is PvP only. You're gimping yourself if you run it in PvE. When the point of the game is to kill everything on the map, fire is the only viable attribute. You don't get bonus points from ANet for snaring shit with water hexes, but you sure do take longer because you're not killing stuff as fast as you could with fire. Earth is the next in line for viable AoE skills, but even with glyph energy eq/dragons/eruption, you aren't getting near the damage that fire can put out, even though you're getting slightly more utility. -Auron 14:08, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Destroyers like fire, don't they? And ever thought about the one skill that really makes fire nuking viable in hardmode? Meteorshower, a real snare. Noctarch 06:45, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Fire is ok, until you reacht Hard Mode. Then you'll find out that the other attributes can do way more than fire can. 145.94.74.23 19:08, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

wow if anet do make a good nuke skill for this, because most water skills slow them down it will only be logical to slow them down so you get a nuke aoe over time damage that slows them down--Hubbard User Hubbard sig icon.png The Dervish 03:19, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

I understand why they had to keep water as a weak element in pve because it would put pvp out of balance. But when they split pve and pvp skills i hoped they would soon make water magic more relevant in pve. some more area spells and do more damage but it looks like i might be playing GW2 by the time they do that :( 66.50.156.249 18:57, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Annoying[edit]

Slippery Ground is like Water Trident, minus damage, plus another condition to trigger. Icy shackles has at least a dozen equihttp://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Talk:Water_Magic&action=edit&section=2valents. Short from a few shielding enchantments, a couple of attack spells, and a few creative spells there is no imagination in this attribute. If Anet were going to add skills, could they have at least added different skills. Why bother having icy shackles when any other snare would do the job just as well and not cost an elite slot?

I just don't understand why there are no elite water AOE skills Wynterarwynrose 05:14, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Ward Against Harm. Unless you mean that targets foe. Previously Unsigned 12:07, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
Mirror of Ice is pretty much AoE when used with some of the more fun hexes like Rust or Blurred Vision. 24.13.211.110 00:51, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
Also I'm aware of how it functions, which is why I said "pretty much" - just in case some internet wizard wants to lecture me. 24.13.211.110 00:54, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
