Talk:Wintersday/Finale
Expected results[edit]
Expected results:
- In the center, you have a 1/9 chance to win 3 shards/luck-points and 4 chances to win two each. → average of 11 shards/luck in 9 rounds.
- On the corner, you have 1/9 chance to win 5 each and two chances to win two each → 9 each in 9 rounds.
- On the edges, it's 1/9 to win 4 each and three chances for two each → 10 each in 9 rounds.
However, your mileage will vary. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:49, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Grentch resurrection in Kamadan[edit]
Today I was in a district of Kamadan where Grenth won, and my character, who was standing on the Dwayna circles, was, as expected, killed multiple times by grentches. However, near the end, she was resurrected on the platform where the Avatar of Dwayna stands, with no way to get out of that area besides mapping out. I have screenshots if this is not already documented. Is this already noted somewhere? If not, on which page, and in which section, should it be placed, if it should be noted at all? It was interesting, because this little area is normally inaccessible. Ailina (talk) 05:48, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- You could note it in the notes section of this article. --Silver Edge 23:11, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Statistics are misleading[edit]
The number of winning shards you get is irrelevant if you don't factor in the cost. Each round, using the center circle (the highest value circle) as an example, you have a chance of winning 11/9=1.222... shards. However it costs 1 shard, so your total expected winnings are only 0.222... shards. This means over 15 rounds your total expected (average) winnings will only be 3.333... shards.
This should be included in case people have the misleading impression this is an efficient way to collect shards. It is not. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 172.58.92.172 (talk) at 23:32, 1 January 2021 (UTC).
Kamadan "up to 15 minutes later"[edit]
Does it vary between instances or years? In the round I'm doing now the LA game ran between :05 and :09, and Kamadan between :19 and :23. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 14:25, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
- by instance #. higher numbered instances start later; so if you're going from a low number in LA to a high number in kama it can be more than 15 minutes, while if you're going from a high number in la to a low number in kama, it can be less than 15 minutes. horrible | contribs 15:36, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
