Talk:Wintersday 2005
*sniff* The good old days... Alreajk 23:56, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
It seems that not many people who were around for this still play. I've been trying to find a copy of the festival hats, and no one seems to have either of these or the Tengu Mask. I was really surprised that I managed to find a Pumpkin Crown. SkyMan25 22:49, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Way the hats were obtained[edit]
Does anyone recall (or have screen shots) of how the support for Grenth or Dwayna was measured? I distinctly remember that it was not through a "ring game" which was not introduced until Factions was released. 87.162.119.72 11:07, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
If I remember correctly, there were two large circles (like the one for the Mad King at Halloween): one by the large christmas tree and one by the carolers of Grenth. At the appointed time, the Avatars would appear and call for support. To support Dwayna or Grenth, you simply had to be within the circle of your chosen Avatar. After a few minutes, a count was taken of how many people were in each circle and the Avatar with more supporters won. If Dwayna won, there were fireworks and presents fell upon the ground (no assigned presents then!); if Grenth won, there may have been different fireworks (not sure), grentches ran around killing people and presents fell. Some presents were real, some were fake; some had charcoal in them. I think this is where the dud snowmen summoners originated. Being a necromancer was funny, soul reaping would trigger every time someone died. The key to getting your diety hat was that you HAD to be in a circle when the final supporter tally was taken. I may even have screenshots, but that's 5 wintersdays back...lots to sift through that I never organized. 72.235.159.124 01:24, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
I also believe that the length of the event was also based on the overall winner of the day. I think I remember something about Grenth winning one year, so Wintersday was extended by a week or two. That may have been only for the first one or two years, though.
