Game Updates[edit]

The original idea I had for this template was to redirect user to the appropriate Game Update Feedbacks, not just the Feedbacks. Specially since unawared users are posting their opinions in the mainspace. I do not intend people to create "new" suggestions to lately related game updates, but to Game Updates instead which is the right place were they should have posted at their start. I don't understand. In what situation would this occur? If someone is posting a suggestion in mainspace, that belongs on their own feedback. If it's not a suggestion, it can remain on a talk page. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 07:58, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

I'm still confused. What exactly is the issue with any of the posts being on either talk page? There's actually nothing wrong with stating an opinion about a feature on a talk page in the mainspace. The problem is when someone expects ANet to do something based on that opinion, i.e. when the statement becomes a suggestion. And in that case, the only issue is whether the poster cares if ANet reads the suggestion or not: if they care, then they need to post in Feedback:User (not Feedback:Game updates); if they don't care, then it doesn't mater at all.
Regardless, posts shouldn't be moved between the spaces without permission of the author(s), because they are made under different licensing agreements.
Regarding colors: red reads like a harsh criticism. You are trying to get people's attention (not hit them in the head with a hammer), so any modest color is fine. If they aren't getting the message in e.g. blue or purple, they aren't going to get it because it's red. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 08:32, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
  • When an update comes, users will either post in mainspace or in game update feedback or both.
  • When an update comes, like skill changes, users will post in mainspace or the game feedbacks or even on hero behavior or all three at the same time.
This is causing the entire wiki to have duplicated/triplicated same topics on different places all over.
In my bookkeeping steps I thought the distinction was mainspace talk to content in article...AND...Feedbacks talk to update related issues. I was trying to organize the room a bit.--User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 08:48, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

If the same person posts in more than one location, we can simply remove the extras. I don't really see why we have to force people to discuss in one place or another. When a skill changes in an update, some people comment on the update ("I wish they had updated skill Y instead of X"), on the skill page ("this still sux"), or on the hero behavior page ("heroes no longer use this skill"). Those are different ideas and they don't all belong on a single article. But remember: 99% of comments that we see immediately after an update are people just sounding off. It's not actually meant as formal feedback. Once in a very long while, someone will spark someone else's creativity, which will lead to a proposal...but those end up being discussed in the Feedback space.
I don't think we can force discussions to be organized like we might on a forum. Sometimes, things will just be disorganized...and most of the time, it's just untidy, not an actual problem.
I think our attention is better spent on things that actually affect readers, like the content or the legibility of the discussion, or fixing accuracy, e.g. removing vandalism. I don't think there's an issue, as long as a comment isn't starting a flamewar or overwhelming the page so there's little room to discuss content or analysis. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 09:01, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
