Template talk:Section-stub

Isn't this template kind of redundant? Any stubbed article obviously has one or more incomplete sections. It feels silly to have two stub tags on an article, especially using this one when an article is far from complete. - BeX 18:11, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

well, i suppose there are several pages that are quite ok and not stubs in general. but if there are some minor gaps, i'd use this template. but do you actually have to use it if the article itself is a stub? Or should you even use it then? (BTW, i think this template is quite useful. its more precise and in most cases you aren't able to completly fill out an entire stub. removing section stubs is more fun. xP) —ZerphatalkThe Improver 18:43, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) In my opinion, it should be used when there is no {{stub}} on a page, and everything else apart from one section is fine. If there is a page stub already there, I don't think this should be used. --Talk br12(talk) • 18:45, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Makes sense to do it that way. Was just weird seeing both on a page. o_o NECROMANCY BTW. - BeX iawtc 02:02, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

ID-attribute[edit]

Before I go ahead and remove it, I just want to make clear if there is a specific reason this has an id-attribute. It doesn't have any css associated so that can't be it. Any javascript or anything? The reason I want to remove it is having two elements with the same id is invalid according to the w3c standards, which basically means if we're using two of this template on one page, it violates said standard. — Galil User Galil sig.png 19:17, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

It's been a month so I'm going to remove it. -Smurf 19:07, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Optional parameter for more specific categorization[edit]

IMO we should add an unnamed optional parameter which categorizes the article based on it' value. For example {{section-stub|NPC}} would categorize an article into articles with NPC stub sections. -- Gordon Ecker 07:45, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

That sounds good, but make sure the values are spelled/capitalised as they are with the "main" template, so |npc to follow suit with {{npc-stub}} --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 13:03, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
I could do it, but I'd rather leave it to someone who understands the switch function. Ideally, I'd like something which produces an error message if an invalid value is used for the optional parameter. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 06:23, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
done. poke | talk 09:05, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
The current versions seems useful, but what I wanted was a template to categorize articles based on which sections needs expansion, like the dialogue needed template. Maybe a separate template should be created to mark articles needing a specific type of content such as dialogue, skills, NPCs or levels, I'll start working on one tomorrow. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 10:05, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Ah I see, well you have the "demo", feel free to modify it :) poke | talk 10:54, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
