Aliana Stoneskye[edit]

Primarily a PvE player, I am the head of a very small PvE guild (Honor in Ascalon [HiA]). I prefer to play a prot monk, but I have a L20 in each class and consider myself reasonably versatile.

I've made few edits and don't plan to make many more, as the information I'm seeking is generally available on one of the wikis; nonetheless, I wanted to make myself known for those few edits and comments I do make. As I am a Ph.D. student and college instructor, I tend to be pedantic and precise.

Pet peeve: arrogant elitism--in particular the idea that there is a "correct" class build for a given situation or area. For me, the fun of the game is in the tooling--and especially the unexpected tooling. Too many players I've met lately are only interested in farming in specific ways with specific builds, draining all the logic and interest from the game. I'll still use a Sabway trio on occasion or spirit spam to defeat a quest, but in general, changing up skills is what keeps the game fresh for me.

Also, I get annoyed with those who mock newcomers. I'm all for elitism--the idea that those with more intel and experience should have more power--but there's no need to have an attitude about it. The elite should be inclined toward noblesse oblige and magnanimity rather than the mockery of those who aren't as learned. The more knowledge and skill one has, the greater one's responsibility--in GW as in society at large.
