Original favicon.ico Problem[edit]

This page shows the issue I have with the GW2 favicon.ico recently being displayed on tabs open on the GW1 wiki! It is to illustrate my post titled "Guild Wars Wiki favicon.ico now displaying as GW2 one?" on the Guild Wars Wiki:Reporting wiki bugs page.

The snapshot below shows what is happening, as displayed in Waterfox (v36.0.4, similar to Firefox):

The same thing is also happening in Chrome and Internet Explorer too. Here is a snapshot from Chrome:

I am not certain when this started happening, but it was certainly not occuring a week ago. The favicon.ico displayed on the tab was always previously the same as displayed on a bookmark (or favorite), as this example snapshot from Waterfox:

Note: Even though tabs are showing the GW2 favicons on GW1 wiki pages, when a page is bookmarked, the bookmark does correctly show the GW1 favicon, so it is all rather strange!

Here is the top of the page source from when I did a search for "favicon" on the wiki:

You can see the link to the favicon.icon, which is seemingly not displayed as a page on the wiki (or the search should have found it). It seems that the linkup between the GW1 and GW2 wiki sites and a recent change has somehow caused an issue with the favicon.ico used on this wiki.

New favicon.ico Problem and Proposal[edit]

Well we have our original GW(1) icon back, but it the icon has white space around it, so it does not look so great. I have edited the favicon.ico file to get rid of that white space and here is a snapshot of a comparison:

To create the proposed Favicon.ico, I used the Freeware Greenfish Icon Editor Pro software to load the existing favicon.ico and delete the white space as shown here:

I will attempt to email the new favicon.ico file to Justin Lloyd, so he may make use of it should he wish.
