Gimmick builds, in Guild Wars, are many and varied - they're also, unfortunately, the only option terrible players think they can win with. The recurring theme that connects all gimmick builds is skill choice over player ability. The skills used are either overpowered by themselves, or are abused and exploited in ways ANet didn't forsee; either way, they are a crutch that bad players use to win against better players - without exerting any effort.

All gimmick builds are easy to run. Whether you're playing thumper and cspacing, fire ele and mashing every button on your skillbar on recharge, or hexes and tab-hexing, your job isn't hard. Gimmicks are designed that way because, frankly, people suck.

Guild Wars was founded on the idea that you didn't have to grind much to get into serous PvP, and once you got into it, your skill as a player (not skills on your bar) would determine the winning team. Unfortunately, gimmicks run directly counter to that entire notion of balance and fair play. It's basically saying "nuke lol i win" in a rock, paper, scissors game.

Here is my list of gimmick builds in play - each page gives information on the makeup of the build, lists of feasible counters, and why the build is imbalanced/gimmicky.
