I don't mind playing only one character. But I really enjoying playing many professions. This is my conflict!

Appearance[edit]

Character appearance and profession are clearly linked.

There are two choices to deal with changing appearance to match a change in profession:

  1. Some things are immutable.
    • You can't change your: gender, skin color, face, height, name (any to a more or lesser degree.)
    • You can change more subtly such as: bulk up or slim down, lighten or darken in mood or nature, aquire some new style or taint to match the profession.
    • More realistic.
  2. Change anything about your appearance the way you do on the character creation screen.
    • Less realistic, but probably more popular.

Character Name[edit]

Upon receiving your new profession, you can choose a:

  • Profession Name or Suffix/Sub-title – Character name to used while a member of the profession. This can be a new name entirely or just a suffix or sub-title.

What level does one start out at in their new profession?[edit]

Character Level is likely a level for the character and does not change with a new profession. What is the level of profession attributes, armor, and items assumed to start with in the new profession?

  • Low
    1. If this level is low, how do you report the character level? A Level 20(or equivalent) who is ineffective at their profession?
    2. And how do they get to the area to buy their higher level armor?
      • Get there with their previous profession(s).
      • Grow? with:
        1. High - Character level, health, damage.
        2. Lower - XP gain with high character level.
        3. Low - Attribute points?
        4. Low/High - Skills available (High if aquired with previous professions.)
        5. Low/High - Weapons available (High if aquired with previous professions.)
        6. Low - Armor (High if allowed to be aquired with previous professions.)
  • High
    1. Give a basic set of max/near max armor and a weapon to start out with.
    2. Allow purchasing max armor to start right there. (The simplest.)
    3. Or, have a prerequisite quest called “Tools of the Trade” (or some such) which asks you to show a full set of armor, etc. (purchased ahead of time as your previous profession) in order to pass the quest.

Multiple Equips, Weapon Sets, and Storage[edit]

The game would have to enable management of:

  • Armor, weapons, and perhaps weapon sets that are equipped for each profession including where those are stored when not equipped.
  • Sorting of all the weapons, various extra armor headgear/rune combinations that are needed to run multiple builds. These were separated in a per character inventory. Options:
    1. Small per profession inventories. (Analog of what we have now.)
    2. A better way to manage/change out armor/rune/insignia combinations.
    3. A large storage area to manually manage or group these things.
    4. A storage that has profession-specific items automatically grouped.

Profession-specific Rewards[edit]
