This wiki needs to start playing a different campaign. Loosen up, guys!

The Problem[edit]

As many users have realized, Guild Wars Wiki has grown into a policy obsessed community, where behind the scenes discussions and e-drama have drawn most of the attention, leaving it's original porpuse aside. This wiki is no longer about Guild Wars, it's now about it's users and their problems, wich are mostly unrelated to the game.

The Reason[edit]

Why is this happening? We have weak admins. Our admins don't feel they are up to their task; afraid of other users reactions to their actions, they became shaky carebears. Admins feel helpless against a hostile ambient and, as they recognize themselves as part of a special group, admins have grown into an hermetic tight group of users, who think and act as one. In an attempt to back up their work and gather strength, admins have turned to the source of their power and lawful justification of their actions: policies. In consequence, far too many policies have been proposed and approved.

Other users perceive their hermetism and obsessive enforcement of policies, especially new users, who can't just join in and start making contributions without getting a classic GWW welcome: "you are violating GWW:X"--Signed:SomeUser on their talkpage. So now the rest of the users become scared of admins from the start. In the end, we have admins scared of users and users scared of admins, a fearful community producing more policies and e-drama than Guild Wars articles. And hey, this young wiki needs those articles.

The 3 Forces[edit]

Currently, a third faction has emerged. Aware of the situation, bolder users have reacted with comments, critics and proposals. We can now clearly see 3 forces interacting in policy discussions: the admins blindly jumping into more policies, the mayority of users silently agreeing with admins, and the bolder users opposing them. This new attitude aims for a change in the pace, a change even admins have recognized as needed. Only time will tell what will be of GWW when these stormy days are over. I hope for a new beggining, with more articles...and less policies.
