Lately, I've been pondering the question "what is wrong, what is to be fixed in this game?". As a frequent browser of this wiki, I can actually can hear people talking (or maybe typing) inside my head. Shard raged @ izzy, Oni QQ'ed and trolled, armond said "fcuk this shit", wolf was all "everything is fine, I izzy!!", readem was just going "lololol".
I know, I'm pretty fucked up in the head.
At any rate, the general consensus is that, izzy, well, is bad.
Does izzy suck at his job?
Well, prophecies is one hell of a CV entry, so he had a good start. Proph had a decent beta, so we didn't get any broken shit for a while - hell, imbalances came with factions, which, consequently, had a very weak beta. So, would it be logical to argue that the additions came too fast for him to handle? Is there another department in ANET that adds new content and skills without Izzy's input? Is something that illogical possible? I would say no. He did give early feedback on the NF skills, so It would be logical to assume he has some sort of say in the skills that go in the game. So, couldn't he foresee some of the imbalances that some skills may have caused? Seriously?
Let's not forget to mention his very poorly thought out updates. I'm not referring to Wounding Strike - It was pretty unused before and, with all fairness, I don't think anyone would be able to predict what the meta might've done with a very tiny update, and he was being pushed for more options in the dervline, so... No, I'm referring to the shadowform change. I don't think he needed much foresight to predict that, maybe, just mebbe, invincibility is bad for the game?
I don't think anyone can be that bad. If I got shouted at 30 times each day, I'd get the hint in, you'know, the 5th time at the most.
Wait, back up a sec. Anyone?
At this point, I've made a startling connection. Once, not once, have I heard Izzy use the word "us", or "we".
Why is this significant? For a while, we've been told that Izzy is the "leader" of the "skill balance team".
Sorry, man, but, uhh, how to say this, you don't smell like a leader to me.
Now, I'm pretty sure I'm wrong about this. I'm pretty sure that he's said "we" once. I'm pretty sure he wasn't hammerheaded enough to try and balance 1500+ skills by himself. No way. But, on the off-chance that I am right, man, it explains everything. It explains why he hasn't had so much forum time. It explains why he's been neglecting the updates. It explains why he's been making shot-in-the-dark updates. It explains why GW is going down faster than a 90 year old nun being chased by nuclear (what?) cheetahs.
Izzy, please tell me I'm wrong. I understand now what is the real problem. Its you. But not you alone, or, yeah, you, alone.. If you are not alone in this job izzy, than I implore you to ask, no, order one of your underlings up here on GWWiki. Tell that unlucky fellow to absorb all the flame we generate, and tell that lucky fellow to bring forth good balance ideas from us - god knows, among all the crap this site generates (my crap included), a small percent of that crap is decent crap (my crap may not be included).
If you are alone in this, then get someone on your team, and do it fast. Fast, because if you try to pull it off on your own, if you don't bring GW back into its former glory, GW2 will go down to hell. You need to fix the foundation before you lay additional stories. GW2 will have very, very, very bad credentials if the developer team gets the "they abandon the game after 2 years" stamp. People buy and play MMORPGS for a long time, mate.
Please. Do this not for our good, but for yours as well.
