Overpowered skills and gimmicks... WHY have none of these gotten the nerf bat?[edit]

Searing Flames Searing Flames is blatantly overpowered. It tosses out every other fire elite in existence. Why is it allowed to remain as overpowered, spammable degen + spike damage for over 2 years? Last time I checked it actually got buffed. This does not promote any form of skill, it just promotes mindless spamming with occasional energy management.

Wail of Doom Wail of Doom is not as broken as Searing Flames but I have no idea what Izzy was thinking when he allowed this to be echoed. Make this non-echoable and that will fix it without throwing it out the window.

Steam Steam + Glyph of Immolation Glyph of Immolation + Slippery Ground Slippery Ground. How come this is still allowed? It's unconditional knockdowns every 12 seconds without an elite skill. People don't have time to remove Blind because Slippery Ground has 1 second cast. Even then, Steam has way too long Blind duration and damage for too little energy. Nerf, please, and stop rewarding 12345678 button mashing builds. Although I can see why this may not be overpowered in high-end PvE, it is abusive in places like Alliance Battles, Random Arenas, and Fort Aspenwood.

Signet of Toxic Shock Signet of Toxic Shock should not do more armor ignoring damage than Signet of Shadows for half recharge and better condition. Deadly Paradox Deadly Paradox gives non-elite access to unconditional knockdowns every 13 seconds. It's time that this skill-less gimmick gets nerfed out of the game.

Healer's Boon Healer's Boon is bad for the game and worse for non-elite healing prayers. It keeps Orison of Healing in the trash because it would be overpowered with Healer's Boon if it was viable like Mend Body and Soul. I don't see why Healer's Boon ever needed a buff in the first place. Find a new function for this.

Wounding Strike Wounding Strike is another big problem. Inflicts deep wound COVERED by bleeding to 3 foes at once every 3 seconds, how is that balanced? Might as well change the description to "Inflict Deep Wound and Bleeding to target foe and 2 adjacent foes for the rest of the match." Revert to original functionality.

Angorodon's Gaze Angorodon's Gaze is a large problem but Anet was blind and stupid enough to throw a perfectly balanced core skill and a balanced elite skill into the dump over bspike. Angorodon's has always been the problem behind bspike and always will continue to be problematic until it is reworked or removed from the game. Why hasn't this been reworked?

Escape Escape is perfectly fine and balanced. Until people use it with a scythe, then it's a problem. How about changing this so that it doesn't work with scythes? Doesn't take a genius to figure out.

Warmonger's Weapon Warmonger's Weapon seriously needs a rework. If echoed, it gives someone access to interrupt spam that's way more degenerate than any Ranger interrupt skillbar. How come it's still passive unlimited interrupt with no penalty for bad play?

Spear Swipe Spear Swipe needs a nerf. Non-elites should never cause unconditional, undodgeable daze, especially on a profession with the most ranged DPS and the best team support, and armor second only to a warrior's.

Burning Arrow Burning Arrow deserves a revert. It was balanced before the last buff, now it's perma-burning. You can't remove burning because you're almost guaranteed to get interrupted. Either make this disable your interrupts or revert to previous functionality, or increase cost to 15.

    • Feel free to add any gimmicks that you consider problematic.
    • Please do not remove anything here without discussion, unless it is clearly a joke or trolling (example, putting Mind Burn on the nerf list because "lolololol")
Steam + GoI + SG is a three skill chain costing 15 energy and around 3 seconds for that "unconditional" knockdown that can be prevented via RC or interupted at any one of three points. If that chain gets off every time then have a talk with your monks or your mez. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 23:29, 2 February 2009 (UTC
