It is a hot summer day in Kryta. A man, a farmer, dead tired of tending his field, goes into his house, for a drink. He sips, then a loud racket is heard. Someone has stolen his food for him and his brother. He tries to chase him, but is exhausted all too well. He frustrates himself. The next day, he prepares for the thief. He grabs his machete and hides in the shade. The thief appears. He tries to sneak quietly over to the food basket. Then, the farmer jumps him! "Who are you, and why do you try to steal my food, that I worked day after day in the barren sun to get?!" The man did not respond, instead he grabbed a nearby stick and proceeded to attack the farmer. The farmer quickly blocked two shots from the stick-wielding thief, then in one instant, he took a swing and knocked his opponent's weapon high into the air. The thief then proceeded to escape quickly, and the farmer's problem was no more.

The next day the farmer returned to tending his garden, with the previous day's machete at his belt. Just as he finished the days work, another man suddenly appears, wielding his own machete. The farmer drops his equipment, and grabs his machete. The farmer would have been beheaded if he had not ducked, and thanks to his quick thinking, he sliced the man's leg, severely crippling him, and creating the first ever sword attack, Hamstring. The farmer seized the moment to begin offensively. But the man did not give up, for he still tried to survive the moment. Consecutively, a duel ensued. It was long battle, where the farmer, with his great endurance from hard work, had finally tired out his attacker. Once he got his opponent to the ground, he disarmed him, just as he did the thief, and then made the Final Thrust to his heart, killing him instantly. Just to stop anyone from ever coming to steal from him again, he put his corpse at the edge of his plantation as a warning sign for others to not dare come to steal from him.

Two days later, the farmer's brother came home from Nebo Village and trying to trade their crops for cloth and other goods. After the farmer's brother showed him the goods they recieved, he proceeded to tell him the tale of his thief problem. When he explained the use of his machete to solve the problem, they both sparked with a brilliant idea. They knew that they could help everyone with this weapon. They could have an advantage over wild animals, unruly people, and what ever else evil may have in store for them. They went to bed that night, with the thought racing in their heads. The next morning, They each left the farm, on a journey to tell others of their discovery. The farmer's brother left for Lion's Arch(after being shown the technique)where the news would spread greatly and quickly. The farmer, however went up north, through the Shiverpeaks and into Ascalon.
