My very first pet was a Melandru's Stalker, acquired in pre-searing. I had chosen Ranger as my secondary specifically because I really wanted a pet companion to travel with me as I played. I named her Jago, after a favorite character from the C.J. Cherryh Foreigner series of books. The first time I went to release her into the Menagerie, I was pretty emotional about it. I must have checked five or 6 times to make sure I could "get her back." I didn't trust that there wouldn't be some glitch. LOL

She is still my favorite traveling companion.
