User:Yawg/A better way to track our titles progress

Titles, this game is all about titles. But the current way titles are displayed in the Hero window makes it very annoying to use and keep track of - the titles that are being worked on and often need checking are burrowed way below all the already max'ed ones, which requires a lot of scrolling down and searching every time. It's also very big and clunky to keep open all the time on screen, and still requires all that scrolling after every rezoning. A simple option to sort them differently and drop max'ed ones to bottom would be a nice help, more reordering options would be ofcourse much better but I'm aware that it could get troublesome to implement than a sorting method toggle.

Simple Idea: Give a real use to the almost completely useless Experience bar - feed it with data from selected title or even give it option to show your faction pool. Balth Faction bar could be a default replacement for PvP characters as they got no use for exp at all and it would help players with small faction pools. And a dream: something much better - dragging-and-dropping multiple progress bars from Hero window to interface... but utilizing that 1 exp bar would be already awesome. Should I be better asking Joe if he can do small interface improvements?--YawgYawg 21:32, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

i dont really see the point in your simple idea. its not that big of a deal to scroll down yes i also wish you could move titles. but i dont think its something that is game braking.75.165.105.191 22:50, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
WoW and other MMORPGs does this, and I just want to say that it is absolutely genius idea, it is time saving and VERY useful. Your ideas are good Yawg (especially the dream one, but pretty unlikely.), here's mine:
My Idea
Ignore the fact that I made it in Paint in 5 minutes, but basically you hit the XP Bar Options and it pops up a (not that huge) options menu with two drop downs and a clickable button. If you hit the button, then your drop down functions will override the XP Bar from displaying Experience (useful for those who don't care about XP), if you don't, then you get a separate bar (useful for those that do.). The drop downs let you choose from any PvE title & Kurzick/Luxon faction in PvE, the PvP drop down lets you select from any PvP title, Balthazar Faction, or K/L Faction in PvP. This additional XP bar seamlessly switches between the two depending if you're in PvP or not.
You wouldn't need any new graphics really, this XP bar could look exactly like the normal XP bar but use the "title track" color instead of the XP Bar Green. Plus it's not a huge complicated interface either, so it seems a lot more plausible. Hopefully this is something Linsey is interested in and could see the usage of enough to make it happen. Forgot to mention, but an Auto Tracking function would be handy too. Basically it'll automatically change what it is tracking based on what you've last earned, pretty handy in PvE's case because most of what you'll earn title wise happens in set areas. Saves you from having to change what to track all the time, wouldn't auto track Cartographer tho (changes too often.). DarkNecrid 07:39, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
nice skill bar LOL.... anywhoo yea that would be nice....75.165.105.191 09:03, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Sweet idea overall. Yet, I think an Autotracking Function would get annoying fast. Say you are in Asura country, killing a monster, *pop* Asura title shows up. Next second you open a Chest, *pop*, Treasure Hunter title. Chest dropped a gold weapon, id it, *pop* Wisdom. Kill another monster, *pop* Asura title again. --Arduinna talk 09:29, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I meant the Auto Track function to be more for rep titles that rarely change cause they're area specific. Stuff like Sunspear/Lightbringer/Asura/Norn/Vanguard/Dwarf/Balthazar/Kurzick/Luxon/the PvP titles would be auto tracked only. Stuff like Cartographer/Party/Drunkard/Sweet/Skill Hunter/etc would just get annoying. DarkNecrid 09:40, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
I like the idea of an diffrent way to check title progression, all that scrolling can suck lol, but would somthing like the Icon/List/Sort function we have for skills be eiser to implement? Siadina User Siadina Siadina Signature.jpg 10:29, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Some nice suggestions there DarkNecrid. I had a slightly different vision, shown on this screenshot, not requiring any additional menu options, simply check a box if you want a title track to replace your xp bar and uncheck to go back to xp bar. Same could be used for the 3 Faction bars. But what matters most is not the way it's done (easier to implement one would probably win) but the final effect - easy tracking of titles you want.--YawgYawg 06:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
It's an ok idea, but I really think that seems a bit harsh on the PvXer who might have multiple things they want to track across two game types. Those types of people would have to change what they're tracking quite a lot, eh? :( It'd be better than nothing and I'd be happy with it, but I definitely think at the least being able to change what you're tracking in PvE/PvP automatically as you change areas is very much needed, because a lot of people do do both types of gameplay, even if it's just RA/AB in PvP. :( DarkNecrid 06:29, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Keep in mind that title tracking would be character based and selections would get remembered for every character the way the displayed title does. And players would likely want to track different titles for different characters. And if you want to use the same char for various activities, what's the problem in switching? I know I would switch them a couple times a day.--YawgYawg 13:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
I vote yes for this. I especially like the idea of having a progress bar (like the XP bar) being displayed on the screen. Mervil 16:33, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

When you open the Game Menu (the little button in the corner of your screen), you can take the icons and drag them off onto your screen, where they will stay and be usable until you drag them back into the Menu. Same thing for title bars, drag one off to make a copy on your game screen, and you can track as many as you want, and put them where you want on your screen. The only difference is that this should be per-character, if possible, but it's not a big deal if it isn't, most titles are not worthy of actively tracking anyway. The only ones that matter are 99% cartographer, drunkard, 90%-before-rank-8-or-max reputation (or some other SS ranks for storyline milestones), and that's about it for PvE. In PvP, you will want to track your faction levels before you max out your limit. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 22:46, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
