Only to use a pet, the Ranger needs at least 2 Skillslots. One for taking the pet with him and one for rescurecting his pet. That is terrible bad and just senseless.
Two solusions:

• your pet follows you if you were a single pet-skill (pet attack, or shout for pet) --> balanceproblem --> decrease the base damge dealt by the pet drastically and increase it with every pet-skill in your skillbar (the more pet skills the player wears --> the stronger the pet)
• give Charm Animal the ability to rescurrect the pet

Anyway, the rescurection and healing skills for the pet have to become changed.
