Quotes are not *SUPPOSED* to be in quotation marks, it is RECOMMENDED. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.182.210.129 (talk).

Where is it "RECOMMENDED" that "Quotes are not *SUPPOSED* to be in quotation marks"? Cause if you look at the guidelines you will see that quotes are suppose to be enclosed in double quotation marks and in italics.

From GWW:MISSIONS#Syntax and example:

==Dialogues==
<!-- Transcription of Cutscene dialogues. -->
''"Text"''

From GWW:NPC#Syntax and example:

==Dialogue==
:''"Something NPC says when clicked on or when prompted. Group by location if necessary"''
:''"No mission- or quest-specific dialogue."''

==Quotes==
:''"Random/idle quotes, group by location or situation if necessary."''
:''"no mission- or quest-specific quotes."''

===Battle quotes===
:''"Random battle quotes, group by location or situation if necessary."''
:''"no mission- or quest-specific quotes."''

From GWW:NPC#Dialogue: "Dialogue text should be written in italics, included in double quotes".

From GWW:NPC#Quotes: "Quotes should be written in italics, included in double quotes".

From GWW:QUESTS#Syntax and Example:

==Dialogue==
<!-- Transcription of dialogue. -->

===Initial dialogue===
;NPC name
:''"Text"''
{{ Offer dialog
| accept = Dialogue option for accepting the quest.
| decline = Dialogue option for declining the quest.
| ask = Dialogue the quest giver provides when asked about the quest while it is active.
}}

===Intermediate dialogue===
<!-- for dialogue in windows -->
;NPC name
:''"Text"''

<!-- for dialogue in the chat log and/or speech bubbles -->
:'''NPC name:''' ''"Text"''
:'''NPC name:''' ''"Text"''

===Reward dialogue===
;NPC name
:''"Text"''

So please follow the guidelines and stop using your own formatting. --Silver Edge 02:39, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

I never said that game quotes were supposed to not be in quotation marks the way you are referrencing. I am saying that it doesn't say quotes are supposed to be in quoatation marks. I said it was not supposed to be as you claimed, it was recommended that they were. Reread the guidelines you seem to want to claim as set in stone, and do not sit there picking on me about guidelines saying they are supposed to be used when the guidelines page doesn't say they are. Besides, the ones I am editing the way I am are not any different than a lot of other already completed entries made BY ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE. These wiki pages are contributed to by more than just you, and it is not your personal decision how everyone enters information on them. Get over yourself and get off of my case.

Since it seems you want to claim to use the guidelines, I will quote to you from the page that YOU posted.

FORMATTING

Standardized formatting makes many tasks on a wiki easier, especially long lists of repetitive documentation. The guides listed below give instructions how to format the articles for different subjects.

Please note that these guides are meant to be a help, and shall be seen as a recommendation (my emphasis) rather than strict law restricting creativity. If in any case the standardized formatting doesn't fit the purpose, you are free to modify it. Also, if you think that a formatting is generally lacking in any respect, question it! You are always invited and encouraged to suggest improvements on the respective talk page.

QUOTATIONS

Dialogue text should be (my emphasis) written in italics, included in double quotes. Spelling, capitalization and punctuation are copied exactly. Any text highlighted in the in-game dialogue is bolded. When quoting text which contains spelling, grammar or punctuation errors [sic] tags should be placed after the problematic text, they should never be placed immediately before punctuation marks or padded with additional spaces.

That say anywhere in there that it is SUPPOSED TO BE? No. So once again, BACK OFF!!! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.182.210.129 (talk).

And for consistency's sake, the guidelines should be followed, see the {{Formatting guideline}} template that is at the top of every guideline. Why are you changing the formatting of articles that follow these guidelines, so that they become inconsistent with the majority of other articles? --Silver Edge 05:14, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
"Dialogue text should be (my emphasis) written in italics, included in double quotes." How is that not "SUPPOSED TO BE?" It says "should be", not "could be". If it were "could be" it would mean italics and double quotes can be used or omitted by choice. --Silver Edge 05:24, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

If they already match the majority of other pages, then why is it I see more pages that do not have the quotes on in-game NPC text, than the ones that do? And no I am not talking about pages that I have edited. Once again, back off, unless you are going to sift through ALL of the pages and correct each and every one that doesn't already have the quotes you are talking about. There are a lot more that don't have them than do. And once again, I am not the only one who is doing it this way. Besides, the game text doesn't have quotes when it is displayed. The way I am doing it is actually closer to how the game displays it. SHOULD BE and SUPPOSED TO BE are two totally different meanings. It also says it in the name GUIDELINES, meaning A GUIDE, NOT saying this is set in stone, this is the only way to do it.
