Were you acting in concert with or support of Blastedt? I think: maybe. The timing of your edit and the particular sentence that got lost in the mix inspires mistrust. Again, you could have avoided the situation via discussion prior to the edit, esp. since there was a mini revert war going on just five minutes before you came in and deleted the same damn thing we had been fighting about.

My suggestion/hope is that you concentrate on adding new information and tactics to the PvP section, rather than deletions. Refinements that involve deletion ought to be discussed first.

I don't care if this means the PvP tactics articles are temporarily a little messy. I rather have a little bit of a mess than the utter void of PvP tactics to be found over on guild wiki.

The PvP community had basically abandoned guild wiki. From what I hear on guild-hall, it's mostly due to well-meaning veterans of the wiki consistently deleting contributions -- sometimes contributions from pillars of the PvP community. So you can imagine that a pair of guild wiki veterans coming in and tag teaming an article written entirely by guild-hall forum members might seem less like "helping" and more like a declaration of intent, or at least a sign of things to come.

Check out guild-hall.net forums to see some of the complaints about the original wiki, and expressions of fear that the official wiki will go down the same path.--Drekmonger 17:03, 13 February 2007 (PST)

Yeh... paranoia is pretty extreme. No, we didn't act in concert, and I didn't support Blasted's comment by removing your addition (again). Like I said on that talk page, I didn't know it had happened; I was baffled by your reaction.

I will take your advice into consideration, but if a section sucks, I will "delete" or edit it. If I add stuff into an article full of crap, the article will still be crap; removing stuff is sometimes the only way to make it better. But yes, I will focus on additions.

I know full well the reputation of the Wiki in relation to PvP, as evidenced by my post here. Sadly, "From what I hear on guild-hall, it's mostly due to well-meaning veterans of the wiki consistently deleting contributions" is completely untrue; I haven't heard that once, and it just isn't the case. The biggest problem the old Wiki had was the build section, and RA people who thought every build they submitted was "pro," and other people who think it's pro favoring it (stuff like Life Sheath whammos etc). I'd like to see one example on the old wiki about well-meaning veterans making the PvP section *worse* by removing stuff. Just one. That is hardly the problem, mostly because people never threw in the towel. If you add something that you knew to be fact into an article, and someone comes along and removes it, don't immediately revert it; talk to that person first, and see why they think otherwise. If they're wrong, they usually don't know it; just tell 'em. You were correct in your addition, but with a quitting attitude, it only took just one quarrel followed by me clearing the *entire section* (not just your addition) for you to throw in the towel. I tend to pick my battles. Fighting over a wiki describing a game isn't the war for me. Perhaps you'd like to share? I've been there, I've worked on those articles; I haven't seen any evidence of your claims. But enough of this nonsense; you could sit here all day and claim that somebody else made a claim and that somebody else has the evidence. Guild-hall and #gwp are the places where many "serious" PvPers hang out. Or use to hang out before many of them left for other games. If you're interested in the PvP community's perspective, that's where you should look.

Hilarious that this piece of trivia for Vocal Minority made it through guild wiki's crack deletion squad: "The Skill icon resembles Paul Grays' mask, which he wears on stage when performing with Slipknot." It also resembles a man eating mashed potatoes with his mouth open.

So Drek's first link is a guy who is unfamiliar with the process of editing the Wiki and Wiki bugs, and bitches about it. Classic, but it doesn't show anything except that he doesn't understand (and/or is unfamiliar with) the Wiki. The second link is about people bitching about an empty Wiki:

Wow, who cares? We can't simply rawdump from Gwiki over here, every article must be re-written. That isn't going to happen overnight.

Lastly (this is the best part) in your own thread, people come up and say what I've been saying; Ignorant users are the bane of the community Wiki (Warskull says it numberous times, dr_ishmael says it). They point out that simply because this is a Wiki, your information (no matter how correct) is subject to "corruption" (as Warskull puts it). If you aren't willing to work in that kind of environment, then follow his suggestion; find a site that supports a no-edit policy and use that to list your PvP information. Staying on the Wiki, remaining ignorant of its technicalities, and bitching nonstop on a number of forums isn't going to change anything. It's been done before.

@Narcism; you linked to a Skill page why? Trivia and similar shit is removed/added on a daily basis to pretty much every skill page in the entire Wiki. If you feel it should be a certain way, argue in favor of it (I was going to change it back, but Edit conflict; Drek got to that first).
