Possible Races[edit]

A list of Intelligent Races that would be plausible for GW2 (will not include announced). If there are any that wish to be added, please do so. If there are any objections as to whether a race could be playable, please post below.

Tyria

  • Dredge
  • Mursaat
  • Undead

Cantha

  • Tengu
  • Wardens
  • Naga
  • Juggernauts

Elona

  • Forgotten
  • Centuars
  • Skree Harpies
  • Heket

I think Races should be also determind in which world u start in.....IF all 3 worlds are the same....If they are Not the same then it makes sense. --Vial of Absinthe.pngრiɫՒ¤§ 01:29, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

maybe its nice to have the human race too :D

Starting[edit]

K, I figured I'd start this place since there wasn't one here before. This so far is pretty much a list of the most common races to appear throughout the suggestions, though I probably missed alot.Farwind 06:20, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Comments[edit]

Nice ideas. But for like the Heket, they arnt verry much of a "Role Denting" charracter. Like in NF, they dont play much of a role, niether do the Skree Harpies (some but not much). But the Forgoten and Centuars (four-legs...), nice idea. I got some nice ideas for charracters, just ideas: Tyria

  • Mini Dragon (Like human size I guess)
  • Undead or somethin like Grenth's minions or whatever

Cantha

  • Rock guys (like those guys in that one Kurzick mission, Arborstone I think it is) --> Juggernauts Sanna 18:52, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Some like water creatures (like in the luxon area)

Elona

  • No Ideas XD

So those are just ideas :D--Zole Thzarr 21:19, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

The skree I included because of the fact that they have a chance to have a major role. In the description of skree from the nightfall manual, it says that they were once servants of Dwayna cursed for some misdeed, and that could evolve into a cool storyline. Also they have wings, and with the z axis flight, whether its temporary or not, could be an extremely cool racial trait. The Heket sort of come with the skree, being intelligent and their worst enemies. I mainly included them because I've seen their names pop up a multitude of times throughout the suggestions. I disagree with the Juggranauts being a playable race, considering what they are. I suggest that we should make a list elsewhere and vote on which races to add to the list above at the top of the page. Farwind 19:40, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
I would like to include Mist Spawn as a possible race. When I mean Mist Spawn, I mean someone like Razah: a being created from the Mists. Now that Abbadon lost hold of a lot of spirits, more "positive" spiritual energy could spawn out into other beings like Razah. An interesting idea that they should further investigate in GW2. :) Benjammn311 15:40, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
ADD: I kind of disagree with the Juggernaut as a separate race type, considering that they were humans before....

The extra races[edit]

Besides the ones in Eye of the North, here is a list of what i think is a good reason to be a race.

Centaur- They appeared in over 2 of the campaigns, and the expansion. Plus, who doesnt want to be a four-legs??

Dwarf- Major part in Proph and EotN(I think, never played it) and several really good dwarf only skills(like the Mursaat skill that kills you no problem in Proph)

Tengu- They have a major role in the guild wars story. There was a conflict between the tengu and the humans because of racial difference, and this difference comes up again in guild wars 2. SO YES THESE GUYS SHOULD BE PART OF IT.

Dredge- Their story has clinged into the GW1 universe. I dont know what to say but i can somehow see them as a race to be. 63.228.45.211 20:54, 9 May 2008 (UTC) i think that some sort of person that can shape shift, or turn into different creatures would be fun, kind of baced off of the whole ursan thing, but have a charactar that can turn into all kinds of different animals, and monsters, that have different skills.

RACES ATTRIBUTES This may have been address on a different place, and if it was i would like i know where so i can read it. but i was only wondering not about what type of races but whats the pros and cons of them. For Example there well have to be pros to each race, like only certain skills that on group can get, right? then this will have to be balanced across the board for PvP, but their would have to be a reason people would play as Charr, besides the fact they look cool. So i would like know is their going to be a primary attribute for race and for profession? and it could be little things too, like to get into certain places Ebonhawke, you have to have a human on in your party, and if you have more Charr in your party than another race then unfriendly Charr in the north would become friendly. I was going to say that each Race should have a profession all to their own, but that can really unbalance the game. I'm really excited about the inclusion of the new races, but I'm also scared that Human race would be set as the weakest, and although it would seem that they should be, I always remember that when were called on to save the world it was a Humans that did all the heavy lifting in GW1. ~Phox53~
