User talk:Hero/GuildWarsPT.com hosted tournament
Shouldn't this be a subarticle of Guild:Electronic Empire? --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 20:40, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
- No kidding. - Drago 20:52, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
- Actually, now it's looking to be more fansite related rather than guild specific (I only mentioned that one earlier because of it being the only thing linking here). If it's fansite related, then per Guild_Wars_Wiki:Article_retention#External_websites_and_applications: "We do not retain any information on external websites (such as fansites and forums)." Until a policy is written and accepted by the community, existing policy says that this should be deleted. It's no different than deleting build pages until a build policy is accepted, and no different than how we were deleting guild pages until that policy had been accepted.
- There has been push for a fansite policy mentioned on the community portal, the fansite article, and on the policy list article ... but so far, none has been drafted. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 20:56, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
What?[edit]
This page is about the portuguese tournament that ended today Wednesday, 9th of May of 2007.
The tournament was sponsored by a portuguese website, so this article is about the Tournament wich happens to have the website address name on the actual tournament name, because tahts the tournament name, nothing else refers to the website and this is not an Electronic Empire subpage, the only relation between these 2 subjects is that Electronic Empire played in the tournament, thats the only relation you will ever find for both, so please enlight me, i dont see any of the stuff you pointed at, but if im wrong ill fix the mistake.
- so ... not an official event, but actually an externally sponsored function, right?
- Here's the issue: the official policy on external webistes, at this time, is that we don't document them (see the article retention article). That may get changed, there's discussion to do so. The community has decided to allow guild sponsored event as subpages to guild articles, and to document official ArenaNet events as main space articles ... but fansite articles and fansite sponsored events do not yet have a policy, and until one exists, my interpretation is that they fall under the listed clause in the article retention policy.
- We'll eventually get a policy for this drafted and discussed; but the wiki is still new, so these things are still being worked out. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 21:14, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
OK in that case ill just wait for the policy then i will finish the article.
The tournament was sponsored by the fansite guildwarspt.com and it was listed in guildwars.com
