Mounts & Travel:

GW2 is looking to be a super super game, and there are MANY things I like and agree with. However, it's pretty difficult to grasp having such a huge persistent world without a more 'meaningful' travel system. It's difficult to come to grips with the fact that transportation seems to simply be a bunch of clicks leading to more or less an 'instant' form of travel to almost instantly traverse the world, once explored.

I realize that there is some amount of foot travel to go from portal to some location in the surrounding area. However, this current travel design with insta-clicky portals borders is catering to the 'insta-gradification' crowd and 'dumbing down' game content IMO..

Any game world that wants to play itself off as an 'actual' world must have meaningful methods of travel that allow the world to impose itself (its size) upon the players in order to make an 'impact'. Having insta-clicky travel portals only helps to lessen the world's impact and makes the world much much smaller and more trivial than what it really should be.

Now, I'm not promoting a travel system where people will be spending ages to get to any one place. I AM promoting a system of travel that 'mostly' does away with the cheap mechanic if insta-clicky travel portals in place of other travel mechanisms such as: Mounts, Blimps(public), Ferries(Public), Mounts on Rails(Public, like WoW), and even some sort of caravan system. I'm not saying %100 do away with portal travel. All I'm saying is allow the world to BE A WORLD and provide more 'meaningful' travel options than simply having more or less the easiest method of travel(insta-click portals) to many locations.

I wish to feel like I'm actually playing in a game world and not like browsing a website when traveling.

Please kindly rethink your travel system and provide more meaningful ways to traverse the large and beautiful world you've created for us, versus trivializing it(IMO) with the system you've currently got in place.
