Image usage[edit]

Please ensure that when you are using images released under the GFDL, you still give the appropriate licensing information. I have added the information onto your image: File:User Prestige Cscr-featured.png. G R E E N E R 13:22, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Your second image is now located at File:User Prestige ChrisNAME.jpg, as per GWW:IMAGE. G R E E N E R 13:26, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Alright thanks, I didn't know that, as I'm fairly new :)! --Prestige 17:00, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Tips[edit]

So I'm going to give you some handy tips which you can put into practice.

  1. Please read up on GWW:IMAGE and GWW:USER.
    1. The former has great advice on how to properly upload and name files
    2. Essentially, the files that you upload for personal use in your user space should start with File:User Prestige NAME_OF_FILE.jpg or the like. The easiest way to do this is to select it as a user-image on the uploading screen.
  2. Make sure you observe the edit that I did here.
    1. When it comes to uploading images onto this wiki, we have to be very careful about copy-right issues, as this is the official Guild Wars wiki.
    2. Since you got the image I edited from Wikimedia Commons, and it is released under the GFDL, the onus is on you, the uploader, to tag it with all appropriate information.
  3. Gathering all of the relevant information can be troublesome, but is your responsibility. One useful shortcut is to use inter-wiki links.
    1. Inter-wiki links are links between this wiki and other wikis. If you wanted to link to Wikimedia Commons, you can start your link with [[commons:LOCATION]] such as [[commons:File:Cscr-featured with shadow.svg]] .
    2. An even faster way to get all of the proper links would be to click "Edit" on the image's page, and the copy/paste what they have used onto your image's page (which is how I got all of the data in my above edit.)

I have moved your pages to their proper locations already, and I'll list them below. Your job will be to add the proper GFDL information to them. If some of them are not released under the GFDL, then you will have to find a replacement image.

I know that the above is a fair bit of information, and we are here to help, but I hope you take the time to read it and ask us if you have any questions. Thanks! G R E E N E R 18:37, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Reminder[edit]

Hey Prestige, now that you have a lot more coding under your belt on this wiki, would you mind taking a look at my suggestions above, and following up on them? I've also moved your signature image to File:User Prestige Icon star 16x16 diamond 01.gif, with the proper naming convention.

Here's a quick list of to-dos for you:

  1. Ensure that all images under this set are properly tagged.
    1. This includes adding the proper User tags to all of them, as well as the GFDL tags.
    2. Here are two quick examples of what you can do for the GFDL. There is no strict format: [1] and [2]
  2. Change your signature so that it now refers to File:User Prestige Icon star 16x16 diamond 01.gif
  3. Double check that File:User Prestige LED.gif is not using copy-right images. If they are not GFDL released, then I will likely have to delete that image.

Again, I know it looks like a wall of text, but I have faith that you will get through it. Swing by my talk page again if you need any help. G R E E N E R 15:39, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

You had a couple of old links to the old signature image; I've updated them to the new one (so your signature doesn't look borked on the relevant talk pages). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:56, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
