Update Notes[edit]

14:39, 2 May 2009 (UTC):[edit]

  • Replaced PnH monk with a PD Mesmer.
    • I've always felt that the PnH monk was largely a waste of a character slot; look at their skills: They've got PnH, then they have a bunch of skills that they use once every 30 seconds. Sure, it's nice every now and then, but nothing a PnH can do is going to win the game, because there's no room for improvement. They're just cushion, so to speak. The build already featured an OoS smite rit, who brings both condition and hex removal in addition to strong pressure. Hopefully that's enough bar cleaning, with the switch to a PnH prot.
    • The disruption caused by a good mesmer is invaluable, and I missed that when we didn't have it. So I've added them in.
  • Life Sheath -> Peace and Harmony. Shield of Absorption -> Mend Condition. Heal Party -> Mend Condition.
    • PnH is too strong not to run, so we'll run it on the prot. To compensate for the loss of LS, we're going to try Mend Condition on both monks. However, since condi pressure is so outclassed by hex pressure in the current meta, I may revert some of this change.
  • Chilling Victory -> Crippling Sweep.
    • Big damage was nice, but the snare is godly. Crippling Sweep gets kills, and so I'll run it.
  • Conjure Frost -> Death's Charge
    • With the addition of the Judge's Insight, Conjure Frost became pretty useless. So it's been replaced with Death's Charge for stronger spiking.
  • Weapon of Warding -> Song of Concentration. Death Pact Signet -> Resurrection Signet.
    • The PnH monk did carry para skills, which were pretty damn useful. If I find our party in dire need of "Make Haste!", I'll have to find someplace to reincorporate it.

  • Signet of Mystic Speed -> Dash
    • It's a minor change that I feel makes the dervish bar more intense. It's more energy-intensive, but the higher mysticism should fix that. I like the spec on HoF much better at this level.
  • Resurrection Signet (ele) -> "Make Haste!"
    • This skill was simply too good not to have. So we've dropped a res for it.

Preface[edit]

Okay. Let me start by saying that this is our version of Balanced (HA balanced, anyway). There's no gimmickplay involved, just standard spike and pressure. Unlike the other builds in this section, this build evolved from standard balanced, not from a concept. So it's more fine-tune and less recreate, so to speak.
While all of the bars aren't the exact ones you see when you ask someone to ping a bar, it's largely the same. The WS is still WS, the ES is skill-for-skill, etc. There's nothing revolutionary with this build.

Discussion[edit]

I like that you use Dervishes for so many of your builds, Raine. Shadowstepping Dervishes went out of the meta a while ago, I believe with the nerf to Shadow Walk (subsequently placing it out of Warriors' reach as well). What makes you feel that this meta's climate merits bringing the device back? Sec Qr Euin 21:26, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Note that it was last edited a year ago. =P User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 22:35, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Gracious, I'm still terrible with these wikis. Alright, excuse me then. :D (edit:logging in helps thing. case and point, no?) Sec Qr Euin 00:21, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
