Wintersday PvP Event 2007/2008

Welcome![edit]

Welcome to the information page for the Wintersday PvP Event 2007/2008. This is an event that is in the planning stages at the moment but is moving ahead quickly with growing support from the GW community. We essentially set out to create a complimentary player founded competitive but friendly competition to go alongside the event that we know and love from Arenanet. We look to be able to host as many players as possible, however you must understand that since we only plan to use 4 guilds to host this event there may be overbooking. That said, this event will be longer than any other in player hosted event history, with the opening ceremonies occurring December 26 and the final event concluding in hour after the new year 2008.

  • Notice: Please be wary of donating any sums of gold/ecto to this event, it has not been endorsed by ArenaNet, so ignore any attempts at this ploy. Thank you.

Availability and Registration[edit]

Player/Team Slots Per Tournament:

1v1 Tournaments - 64

2v2 Tournaments - 64

Hero Tournaments - 64

6v6 Tournament - 32

GvG Tournament - 32

A forum will be created where players will go to sign up themselves/teams for the event, here is the correct registration form, do not submit a form different from this or it will be disregarded.

IGN:
Tournaments Desired:
Rank (If Applicable):
Total Entrance Fees Due:

Please enter the name IGN you will be using at the tournament, 6v6 and 2v2 groups must be formed prior to tournament and registered as a team, this does not apply to the GvG tournament.

Considering we only have 4 guilds hosting this event, space is limited so sign-up is encouraged ASAP, I will let you know when the forums are operational. Here is a guess at the number of players at the events excluding the daily scrimmages.

1v1 Tournament - 2 x 64 = 128 players

2v2 Tournament - 2 x 128 = 256 players

Hero Tournament - 2 x 64 = 128 players

6v6 Tournament - 1 x (32)(6) = 192 players

GvG Tournament - 1 x (32)(8) = 256 players

Grand Estimate (Excluding Daily Scrimmage): 960 players.

GvG Sign Up Rules[edit]

This is not a freelance sign up as we want a high level of play in the tournament, as such we are making this a invatational, if your guild wishes to participate please post your rank on the forums and I will get back to you, I will also be contacting some of the premier guilds of the game and seeing if they would do us the honor of joining us. Also you must use your own VoIP servers.

  • A official must be present as an observer during every match, officials will be paid for their time commitment out of the remaining money leftover from entree fees.
  • This official must confirm victory before team can move on.
  • Teams/Players that are more than 5 minutes late for their time slot are disqualified with no reimbursment.
  • NPCs are not to be used in any way for the 1v1, 2v2, and Hero tournaments, in the 6v6 and GvG tournaments, NPCs are in bounds. (This includes camping, any breaking of the rules will result in disqualification)
  • A win is defined as A) For 1v1, 2v2, and Hero tournaments, the killing of the entire opposition squad, in other words, the last team standing wins. And B) The killing of the opposition's guild lord in the 6v6 and GvG tournaments.

Other Activities[edit]

As this is a PvP event, there are no scheduled chill zones aside from daily scrimmage, however alcohol will be provided whenever available and there will be a massive party on Warrior Isle with alcohol and other party favors during the 2 hourlead up to the GvG finale fromm 12:30 Am - 2:30 Am Jan. 1, all are welcome, whether or not they participated in the festivities does not matter. All that you need to do is pm a Event official who's IGN's are will be posted on the forums. We encourage everyone to stick around and observe the finale of the tournament which will be in the first hours of 2008.

How You Can Help[edit]

Volunteers and Event coordinaters may sign up, they will be paid if the funds are available. Referee's are in desperate need and will be paid on a per match basis, the pay is yet to be determined, we guess we will need around 40 officials throughout the tournament. Donations of gold and ectos along with alcohol is greatly appreciated and we encourage you to get in contact with us if you feel there is any other way you can help. Thanks to all in advance and lets make this worth remembering, who knows maybe the mighty Frog or the notorouis Gaille will grant us the honor of their presence.

Final Notes[edit]

Lets have a clean and happy tournament all, if you are rank 3 or higher and feel like taking advantage of the system and playing with those who are not rank 3, be my guest. I mean its a very dirty move on your part playing with less expierenced people but have fun and get back to me with your feelings after you lose to one of these players. If you are participating in multiple tournaments your fee must be paid in one sum, not in increments. Once again good luck have fun and happy holidays.
