Shadow stepping is barely ever viable in PvE besides running and occasionally when you need to skip over terrain.
Suggestion
Lower recharges on all PvE shadow steps would make them MUCH more viable. Taking away aftercast would give the assassin his rhythm back. Let's start with Death's Charge Death's Charge. This skill can be a powerful self-heal but it's recharge makes it inconvenient, especially since it brings you back into melee. Perhaps a 12 second recharge would make this a much more viable heal. Dark Prison Dark Prison can be decent for starting chains, but it needs to recharge much more quickly. In PvE, you simply *aren't* going to be using any kind of build that can score a kill every 30 seconds. Dark prison and Shadow Prison Shadow Prison alike need very small recharges. 6 for shadow prison, 12 for Dark prison. As it is now, Assassin's Promise is about the only hex sins use in PvE other than Asuran Scan. Beguiling Haze Beguiling Haze provides Daze, which is extremely powerful, so perhaps a 16 recharge on it, but otherwise it's fine for a daze skill. Perhaps 10 energy would make it more appealing. Shadow Fang Shadow Fang suffers from too high of a recharge to be useful. Bring the recharge down to 10 and it would become an interesting skill for pulling mobs that would still retain killing capacity afterward. Aura of Displacement Aura of Displacement follows the same principle, however it is elite. A 5 second recharge and 5 energy would make this an appealing skill to assassins.

Would it be possible to change the range of Recall, Shadow of Haste, Aura of Displacement and Shadow Meld to unlimited in PvE again? The reason why i'm asking is simply because i think Assassins lack their number one feature - the mobility - in PvE entirely. Making the range of these shadowsteps unlimited would allow people to shorten up Missions, Quests, Farmruns etc and make Assassins a viable class in PvE not for their tanking or damage dealing abilities but for the feature that always represented them the best: mobility. Well, you would need to prevent secondary Assassins from using them by linking the Skills to critical strikes. As compensation for this buff you could consider nerfing Shadow Form to non-maintainable state again. Thanks for reading :P Vortex 17:47, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
